The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange enjoyed a strong day on Friday, with the market index closing above the 3,000 mark for the first time since April 11, by jumping 41.02 points to 3,025.22 in trading.

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange recovered some of the recent losses on Wednesday as advancing stocks outnumbered declining stocks and the volume of trading rose 64 percent.
At the close of market activities, the market index rose 28.68 points to close at 2,970.22 as the prices of 14 securities advanced, 11 declined and 3 remained unchanged as 28 securities changed hands, compared to 24 on Tuesday. Trading resulted in rise in the volume changing hands to 3,326,424 units valued at $12,838,542 compared to 2,022,568 units valued $7,237,526 on Tuesday.

Junior Market drops 9.4% for year

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange lost more ground on Tuesday and closed April with a 5 percent fall in value, bringing the four months losses to 9.4 percent compared to a 5.8 percent rise for the All Jamaica index.
At the close of market activities, the market index lost 22.89 points to close at 2,941.54 as the prices of 9 securities advanced, 12 declined and 4 remained unchanged as 24 securities changed hands, compared to 23 on Monday. The volume and value trading climbed to 2,022,568 units valued $7,237,526 compared to 486,748 units at $2,074,395 on Monday.

Junior Market drops volume rises – Friday

Caribbean Producers traded 1.66 million shares and dropped 80 cents.


The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed with big improvement in volume and value trading on Friday, compared to Thursday’s levels.
The market index dropped 22.54 points to close at 2,970.82 as rising and declining stocks shared the spotlight equally as investors exchanged 24 stocks, compared to 26 on Thursday with prices of 8 rising, 8 declining with 8 remaining unchanged.
Trading resulted in an exchange of 4,264,462 units valued at $16,060,112 as two securities dominated trading volume, compared to 690,056 units valued at $2,672,243 on Thursday.
