Junior Market slips on Thursday

Shortly after the opening of trading on Thursday, Junior Market Index raced to 3,438 points but failed to hold on to those early gains and ended lower at the close of Wednesday, with the index dropping 18.39 points below Wednesday’s close, to finish at 3,388.76 as the value of stocks trading declined 13 percent below Wednesday at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market.
Market activity led to 41 securities trading, up from 37 on Wednesday and ended with 16 rising, 18 declining and seven left unchanged. Fontana and KLE Group ended trading at 52 weeks’ highs.

Trading ended with 4,133,325 shares changing hands for $14,013,135 down from 4,626,302 units at $16,070,563 on Wednesday. Future Energy Source ended with 30.5 percent of total volume as it led trading with 1.26 million shares, followed by Mailpac Group ended, with 20.6 percent after 852,447 units were traded and Lumber Depot 12.7 percent with 524,419 shares.
Trading averaged 100,813 shares at $341,784, down from 125,035 shares at $434,340 on Wednesday and month to date, an average of 108,735 units at $369,086, compared to 111,609 units at $378,991 on Wednesday. October average trade was 162,777 units at $557,275.

Overall, 37 securities traded, up from 35 on Tuesday and ended with 16 rising, 13 declining and eight closing unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index rallied 16.47 points to settle at 3,407.15.

Modest setback for Juniors on Tuesday

The volume of stocks traded fell 51 percent less, with the value falling by 57 percent from trading on Monday on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange, but it led to rising stock beating out declining ones by a wide margin at the close on Tuesday.
A total of 35 securities trading down from 41 on Monday and ended with 19 rising, 11 declining and five closing unchanged.
The Junior Market Index slipped 4.40 points to 3,390.68. Junior Market closing in on 17 months high

Trading closed Friday, with the volume and value of stocks traded rising modestly over Thursday as the Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market closed out the week and month with the market index surging 42.50 points to close at 3,404.40, to be up 108 points for the month, with a gain just under 29 percent for the year to date.  
The market closed just below the 2020 to 2021 peak of 3,421.90 reached on July 15 this year. Market activity led to 35 securities trading compared to 36 on Thursday and ended with 15 rising, eight declining and 12 closing unchanged.
A total of 4,415,967 shares traded for $14,859,809, up from 3,697,415 units at $12,782,196 on Thursday. Junior Market starts week with a fall

Trading closed on Monday, with the Junior Market index dropping 17.31 points to 3,284.82 as the volume of stocks traded declined 46 percent and the value slipping by 30 percent from Friday activity at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market.
Market activity led to 36 securities trading up from 32 on Friday and ended with 11 rising, 18 declining and seven unchanged.

Trading ended with 4,466,932 shares changing hands for $16,339,623 compared to 8,337,540 units at $23,193,961 on Friday. Lumber Depot led trading with 1 million shares for 22.5 percent of total volume, followed by Future Energy Source with 686,651 units for 15.4 percent of the day’s trade and Limners and Bards with 674,420 units for 15.1 percent market share.
Trading averaged 124,081 shares at $453,878 in contrast to 260,548 shares at $724,811 on Friday and month to date an average of 175,757 units at $604,034, compared to 179,215 units at $614,082 on Friday. September closed with an average of 207,032 units at $668,264.

Junior Market consolidating ahead of results

Trading pulled back on Thursday, with the volume of stocks traded falling 49 percent, with the value slipping 46 percent below Wednesday’s market activity on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange, but the market index rallied 6.60 points to 3,285.94.
Market activity led to 35 securities trading compared to 38 on Wednesday and ended with 14 rising, 13 declining and eight, closing unchanged.
