Stock market trading plunges in Trinidad

Trading dropped sharply on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Thursday, with only 15 securities trading, down from 21 on Wednesday, with the volume of stocks traded falling 47 percent and the value dropping 19 percent compared to Wednesday.
Trading ended with four stocks rising, four declining and seven unchanged. The Composite Index fell 10.24 points to 1,410.15, the All T&T Index shed 19.18 points to close at 2,063.46 and the Cross-Listed Index declined 0.09 points to settle at 99.54.
A total of 206,690 shares were traded  for $1,950,983 compared to 387,257 units at $2,396,957 on Wednesday. An average of 13,779 units traded at $130,066 compared to 18,441 shares at $114,141 on Wednesday, with trading month to date averaging 21,969 units at $220,502 versus 22,993 units at $231,806. The average trade for May was 45,890 units at $370,328.
The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows one stock ending with a bid higher than the last selling price and five with lower offers.
At the close, Angostura Holdings finished at $23 in exchange of 100 shares, Clico Investment Fund ended at $29 with the swapping of 3,415 units, Endeavour Holdings remained at $7.50 with 833 stocks clearing the market. First Citizens Group dived $3.73 to $50.60 after trading 17,409 stock units, FirstCaribbean International Bank increased 3 cents to close at $5.25 with an exchange of 19,675 stock units, GraceKennedy ended at $5.95 with 800 shares changing hands. Guardian Holdings rallied 5 cents to $27.30 in trading 2,790 stocks, JMMB Group remained at $2.35 while exchanging 95,524 units, Massy Holdings lost 1 cent to $5.19 in switching ownership of 39,310 units. NCB Financial Group advanced 1 cent to end at $5.67 in trading 19,356 stock units, Point Lisas finished at $3.40, with 588 stocks crossing the market, Republic Financial Holdings gained $1 in ending at $142, with 787 shares changing hands. Trinidad & Tobago NGL dipped 18 cents in closing at $20.82 and exchanging 2,500 units, Unilever Caribbean declined $2.11 to end at $14.96, with an exchange of 2,903 stocks and West Indian Tobacco ended at $23.40 after the swapping of 700 shares.
