Steady trading leads to a rise for T&TSE

Stocks rising were equal in number to those declining on Wednesday, but the market rose after 86 percent fewer shares carrying 86 percent lower value traded than on Tuesday at the close of the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange.
At the close, 18 traded up from 16 on Tuesday, with four stocks rising, four declining and 10 ending unchanged. The Composite Index rose 2.52 points to 1,392.57, the All T&T Index popped 2.75 points to 1,908.94 and the Cross-Listed Index climbed 0.32 points to 117.72.
A total of 210,642 shares traded for $3,058,233 down from 1,518,373 units at $15,536,855 on Tuesday.
An average of 11,702 units traded at $169,902 compared to 94,898 at $971,053 on Tuesday. The average trade for the month to date amounts to 50,139 units at $743,838 versus 53,800 units at $798,498. The average trade for May amounts to 25,935 units at $406,593.
The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows two stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and one with a lower offer.
At the close, just 582 shares of Agostini’s were traded at $24.50, Angostura Holdings climbed 25 cents to $15.50 with an exchange of 4,160 stock units, Calypso Macro Investment Fund settled at $16 in switching ownership of 126 shares, Clico Investment Fund traded 14,578 stock units at $26.99, Endeavour Holdings shed 3 cents in closing at a 52 weeks’ low of $7.97, with 50 stocks crossing the market. Grace Kennedy climbed 10 cents in closing at a 52 weeks’ high of $5.35 with 2,057 stock units changing hands. Guardian Holdings dropped 28 cents to $34.97, after trading 16,694 units, Guardian Media settled at $3.25 trading 18,000 stocks, Massy Holdings gained 25 cents to close at a 52 weeks’ high of $80.25 in exchanging 5,360 stocks. National Enterprises ended at $3 with the swapping of 71,875 shares, NCB Financial Group ended at $8 with 2,150 stocks changing hands, One Caribbean Media settled at $4.65, with 33,473 shares crossing the market. Point Lisas closed at $3.10 with an exchange of 16,500 shares, Republic Financial Holdings ended at $135 in trading 1,682 units, Scotiabank ended at $57 with the swapping of 6,633 stocks. Trinidad & Tobago NGL dropped 10 cents to close at $18, with 6,026 stock units crossing the market, Unilever Caribbean dipped 11 cents to $16.22 in exchanging 70 stock units and West Indian Tobacco popped 4 cents in closing at $32.15 after exchanging 10,626 shares.
