Moderate trading hits JSE – Tuesday

The junior market accounted for 829,809 shares valued at $2,684,479 of all trades.
The JSE Market Index slipped 237.38 points to end at 159,565.11. The all Jamaica Composite Index fell 265.49 points to close at 177,283.86 and the JSE combined index dipped 612.10 points, to end at 170,247.51.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, in the main and junior markets, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading showed 14 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and 5 with lower offers.
At the end of market activities, Barita Investments lost 8 cents to close with 288,042 shares changing hands at $3, Berger Paints ended at $4.50 while 3,274 units were traded, Cable & Wireless dropped 4 cents with 48,800 units traded to close at $1.25, Caribbean Cement declined by 50 cents to close at $22.50 after trading 39,312 units. 1834 Investments traded 110,958 shares but rose 2 cents to close at $1.02, Grace Kennedy added $1.15 to close at $124.25 with 17,283 units changing hands, Jamaica Broilers ended with 168,743 units changing hands to close at $14.50. Jamaica Stock Exchange gained $1.20 with 5,000 shares changing hands at $22, JMMB Group traded 17,855 units to close at $9.72. Kingston Wharves traded 12,100 units and gained 50 cents to close at a 52 weeks’ closing high of $14, Montego Bay Ice jumped $3.73 to a new 52 weeks’ high of $18.63 but only 200 shares were traded. A trade for 94,100 units executed by Stocks and Securities at $20, was cancelled in the morning session as the price exceeded the 30 percent price movement limited permitted for one day. National Commercial Bank ended with only 2,710 units changing hands at $42.01, Pan Jamaican Investment Trust fell 45 cents and closed with 6,755 shares trading at $26. Pulse Investments closed with 3,000 shares changing hands at $2.55, Sagicor Group ended with 4,500 shares changing hands at $23.01 after adding 1 cent to the price. Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 129,243 shares to close at $10.15, Scotia Group had 19,118 shares changing hands to close at $30.80, Scotia Investments ended with 8,055 shares trading to close at $26. Supreme Ventures ended trading with 31,000 units at $4.54 with a gain of 5 cents and Proven Investments traded 765,000 units at 15.1 US cents, after falling from 15.29 US cents previously.
