The Jamaica stock market gained ground at the start of the week, with 34 securities trading and the prices of 15 stocks market rising in the overall, 12 declined, including 3 stocks rising and 2 declining, from the junior market. Stocks traded, amount to 13,851,069 units valued at $206,439,477, in all market segments with the junior market accounting for to 3,510,504 shares valued at $ 14,348,452 of all trades.
The JSE Market Index rose 344.86 points to end at 159,802.49. The all Jamaica Composite Index advanced 385.69 points to close at 177,549.35 and the JSE combined index gained 216.35 points, to end at 170,859.61.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, in the main and junior markets, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading showed 10 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and 4 with lower offers. JSE sum 27-6-16At the end of market activities, Barita Investments gained 3 cents to close with 4,545,322 shares changing hands at $3.08, Berger Paints gained 15 cents to end at $4.50 while 21,726 units were traded, Cable & Wireless rose 9 cents with 39,140 units traded to close at $1.29, Caribbean Cement jumped $1.39 to close at $23 after trading 5,000 units. Carreras surged $3 to $66.50 with 44,656 shares traded, 1834 Investments traded 60,000 shares but lost 2 cents to close at $1, Grace Kennedy lost $1.87 to close at $123.10 with 440,788 units changing hands. Jamaica Broilers ended with a rise of 27 cents with 168,743 units changing hands to close at $14.50, Jamaica Producers traded 13,353 shares changing hands to close at $49, JMMB Group traded 4,503 units but lost 8 cents to close at $9.72. Kingston Wharves traded 7, 463 units and gained 20 cents to close at a 52 weeks’ closing high of $13.50, National Commercial Bank ended with 45,681 units changing hands at $42.01, up 1 cent, JSE mm fn qts 27-6-16 Pan Jamaican Investment Trust rose 45 cents and closed with 3,600 shares trading at $26. Pulse Investments fell 44 cents to close with 3,000 shares changing hands at $2.55,Radio Jamaica lost 17 cents in trading 20,000 shares to close at $1.68, Sagicor Group ended with 4,796,270 shares changing hands at $23. Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 29,763 shares to close with a rise of 3 cents at $10.15, Scotia Group had 13,762 shares changing hands but rose 19 cents to close at $30.80, Scotia Investments ended with 31,800 shares trading and falling 45 cents, to close at $26. Supreme Ventures ended trading with 15,500 units at $4.49 with a gain of 9 cents and JMMB Group 6% US dollar preference share traded 18,580 units at US$1.05, after falling 10 cents.
