Trading in the main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Wednesday with gains in the market indices but comes against a background of declining stocks out numbering advancing ones. At the close the All Jamaica Composite Index advanced 465.94 points to close at 258,918.00, the JSE Market Index gained 424.53 points to 235,903.63 and the JSE US dollar market index rose 6.89 points to 193.18.
At the close of trading, 22 securities changed hands in the main market with 2 trading in the US dollar market, leading to 5 stocks advancing and 12 declining. Trading in the main market ended with 5,154,113 units valued at $53,288,691 changing hands compared to 11,853,174 units valued at just $109,266,700 at the close on Tuesday. Trading in the US dollar market accounted for 6,586 units valued at US$5,080.

In market activity, Berger Paints closed at $18, with a loss of 75 cents exchanging 28,700 shares, Cable and Wireless closed at $1.20, with 2,750 stock units changing hands, Caribbean Cement closed at $26.60, after losing 40 cents trading 38,991 shares, Carreras dropped $7 to close at $82, with an exchange of 1,603 units, Grace Kennedy closed at $41 with trades of 23,804 units, Jamaica Broilers lost 5 cents exchanging 76,020 shares to end at $17.95, Jamaica Producers closed at $14.40, with a loss of 10 cents trading 1,000 units. Jamaica Stock Exchange traded 29 cents lower, to close at $7, with an exchange of 4,058,452 shares, JMMB Group ended at $19.50 trading 13,728 units, Kingston Wharves traded $1.96 lower to end at $28.54 with 8,217 shares changing owners, Mayberry Investments added 10 cents to close at $4.65, with trades of 76,027 units, NCB Financial Group closed at $70.05, losing $1.18 after exchanging 147,890 shares, 
1834 Investments closed at $1.35, gaining 5 cents with 51,470 shares trading. PanJam Investment closed at $34 trading 19,021 shares, Portland JSX exchanged 21,433 units at $9.95, Pulse Investments added 40 cents, to close at $17.40 trading 125 shares, Radio Jamaica closed at $1.66, gaining 1 cent in exchange of 1,000 shares, Sagicor Group closed at $34.20, with a loss of 1 cent trading 77,412 shares and Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 15 cents higher to close at $11.15 with 403,600 shares exchanged. Scotia Group closed at $42.70, with a loss of $1.15 exchanging 11,613 shares, Seprod closed at $25, losing 49 cents in trading 4,257 shares while Supreme Ventures closed at $7.35, with a loss of 15 cents as 87,000 shares changed hands. Proven Investments exchanged 3,835 ordinary shares at 24 US cents and JMMB Group USD 5.75% preference share closed at US$1.50 with trades of 2,751 units.
