The Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Tuesday giving all of Monday’s gain and more as the market lost ground with 37 securities trading, as the prices of 13 stocks in the overall market rose, 16 declined, including 5 stocks rising and 6 declining, from the junior market.
National Commercial Bank closed with 1,327,563 shares changing hands, the price fell by 20 cents to close at $41.80, Grace Kennedy chipped in with 253,791 units, with the price jumping $9, to close back at $125 and Jamaica Producers traded at a new 52 weeks’ high of $49, after rising by $1 with 17,253 shares changing hands.
Stocks traded amount to 3,512,857 units valued at $109,817,045, in all market segments with the junior market accounting for to 1,016,398 units valued at $4,845,689 of all trades.
The JSE Market Index dived 1,245.08 points to end at 159,595.62. The all Jamaica Composite Index dropped 1,392.49 points to close at 177,317.98 and the JSE combined index declined 1,133.47 points, to end at 171,149.34.
JSE sum 21-6-16 IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, in the main and junior markets, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading showed 8 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and 3 with lower offers.
At the end of market activities, Berger Paints closed with 13,940 shares changing hands at $4.50, Cable & Wireless, lost 5 cent with 44,750 units traded to close at $1.30, Caribbean Cement gained 80 cents to close at $22 after trading 54,300 units, Carreras fell 1 cent in trading 2,400 shares and closed at $62.80. The price of 1834 Investments fell 11 cents in trading 11,900 units at $1.05, Jamaica Broilers gained 25 cents with 11,243 units changing hands, to close at $14.75. JMMB Group traded 12,445 units to close at $9.80. Pan Jamaican Investment TrustJSE mm fn qts 21-6-16 closed with just 189 shares trading, as the price rose by 40 cents to $27.40, Radio Jamaica had 80,100 shares trading but fell 24 cents to $1.50, Sagicor Group ended with 287,712 shares changing hands after declining 1 cent to $23, Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 38,550 shares and lost 3 cents to close at $10.12. Scotia Group rose 64 cents with 207,786 units trading to close at $30.75, Scotia Investments traded 12,600 shares but fell 50 cents to close at $25.50, Supreme Ventures ended trading with 36,902 units at $4.75, Proven Investments ordinary share traded 47,680 units at 18 US cents after slipping by 1.47 US cents and JMMB 7.5% preference share traded 29,000 units at $1.04 for a 1 cent rise.
