Falling stocks dominate the Trinidad exchange

Stocks ended with mostly losses on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Monday, after a 35 percent drop in the volume of stocks traded with a 25 percent greater value than on Friday, resulting from trading in 18 securities down from 19 on Friday and ending with prices of four stocks rising, six declining and eight ending firm.
The market closed with trading of 1,383,093 shares valued $9,940,068 compared with 2,120,707 stocks at $7,980,496 on Friday.
An average of 76,839 shares were traded at $552,226 compared with 111,616 units at $420,026 on Friday, with trading month to date averaging 55,803 shares at $420,332 compared with 50,394 units at $386,417 on the previous trading day and an average for September of 19,319 shares at $151,318.
The Composite Index rose 1.00 points to end trading at 1,051.83, the All T&T Index sank 7.37 points to finish at 1,570.16, the SME Index remained at 88.01 and the Cross-Listed Index gained 1.39 points to finish at 69.57.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows four stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and four with lower offers.
At the close, Angostura Holdings fell 40 cents to end at $16.10 with 20 stock units crossing the market, Calypso Macro Investment Fund ended at $23.60 after an exchange of 210 shares, First Citizens Group remained at $40.40 with 4,356 stocks clearing the market. Eric Solis traded 32 stocks at $4.20, FirstCaribbean International Bank popped 6 cents and ended at $7.05 in trading 1,224,008 units, GraceKennedy sank 5 cents to finish at $3.65, with 113,050 stocks crossing the market, Guardian Holdings remained at $14.05 with investors trading 115 units. JMMB Group gained 9 cents to $1.10 in switching ownership of 10 shares, Massy Holdings ended at $3.75 with traders dealing in 20,100 stock units, National Enterprises rose 3 cents to finish at $2.99 after a transfer of 12,151 shares. National Flour Mills remained at $1.80 with investors trading 1,000 units, NCB Financial ended at $2.45 with an exchange of 522 stocks, Point Lisas declined 18 cents to end at $3.10 after 600 stock units crossed the market. Republic Financial sank 40 cents to close at a 52 weeks’ low of $111.50 with investors dealing in 5,129 shares, Scotiabank remained at $56.40 after trading 190 units, Trinidad & Tobago NGL advanced 4 cents in closing at $4.75 as investors exchanged 900 stocks. Trinidad Cement dropped 19 cents to finish at $2.61 with 600 stock units changing hands and Unilever Caribbean lost 70 cents to close at $10.50 with investors swapping 100 shares.
