JSE majors make big gains – Tuesday

Trading levels picked up the early Tuesday morning session on the Jamaica Stock Exchange, with an increased number of securities trading after 75 minutes of the market’s opening leading to a sharp rise in the main market indices. The volume traded also increased well over the amount traded on Monday.
ICI int sht 17-05-16After 75 minutes of trading in the early morning session, on Tuesday, the all Jamaica Composite Index rose 1,498.66 points compared to the 2,035.21 points rise on Monday to 171,721.71, the JSE Market Index gained 1,340.05 points versus 1,819.80 points rise on Monday, to 154,591.66, the JSE combined index was up 831.40 while on Monday it rose by 1,726.04 points, to 165,354.68 and the junior market index dropped 40.14 points to 2,140.29.
Stocks traded with 100,000 units or more include, Cable & Wireless traded 122,614 shares at $1.48, followed by 1834 Investments with 118,100 at $1, Jamaica Producers had 185,220 units changing hands at $34.93 in response to an announcement of a bonus issue of shares to be put the Annual General meeting, Supreme Ventures 301,751 shares at $4.60, Caribbean Cream 208,688 at $4.60 and Lasco Distributors 705,698 shares down to $6.50.
Trading resulted in activity in 31 securities, accounting for 2,131,446 shares changing hands as 12 stocks gained and 9 declined. The average number of shares traded is 68,756 units compared to an average of 21,330 units on Monday.

Pan Jam & Grace at new highs – Monday

Grace Kennedy and Pan Jamaican Investment traded at new 52 weeks’ high in the early morning session on the Jamaica Stock Exchange, with Grace hitting $90 following impressive first quarter resultsICI int sht 16-05-16 and Pan Jamaican traded as high as $130 but traded later at $125 in continued reaction to the company’s announced 5 fro 1 stock split, on a morning session of moderate trading.

Trading started off slowly in the early morning session on the Jamaica Stock Exchange, on Thursday, with no junior market shares trading after half an hour of the market’s opening while only nine stocks traded in the main market up to that point. Trading activity resulted in the market indices rising.

Stocks traded more than 100,000 units are, Cable & Wireless with 949,000 units, Scotia Group with 103,752 shares, Proven Investments traded 554,302 ordinary shares at 17.02 US cents.
Pan Jamaican Investment traded at a new 52 weeks’ high of $99 with 2,000 shares trading, the highest bid for the stock is at $100.01 to buy 8,500 units.
Trading resulted in activity in 20 securities, accounting for 1,835,483 shares changing hands as 3 stocks gained and 7 declined. The average number of shares traded is 91,774 compared to an average of 32,508 units on Wednesday.

Trading after 75 minutes in the early morning session on the Jamaica Stock Exchange, on Wednesday, saw the main market shedding ground, with the all Jamaica Composite Index falling almost 991.84 points after an hours and 20 minutes of trading, but recovered to lose 555 points shortly after. At the same time the junior market just inched up.

Trading resulted in activity in 28 securities, accounting for 910,214 shares changing hands as 8 stocks gained and 10 declined. The average number of shares traded is 32,508 compared to an average of 70,975 units on Tuesday.
The market saw the all Jamaica Composite Index dropped 555.06 points to 167,710.24, the JSE Market Index fell 496.30 points to 151,004.77, the JSE combined index ended with a fall of 458.55 points to 162,314.91 and the junior market index gained just 0.18 points to 2,168.33.

Trading resulted in activity in 25 securities, accounting for 1,774,364 shares changing hands as 9 stocks gained and 6 declined.
The market saw the all Jamaica Composite Index dropped 986.08 points to 167,326.70, the JSE Market Index fell 881.71 points to 150,661.82, the JSE combined index ended with a fall of 676.76 points to 162,020.85 and the junior market index bounced 13.76 points to 2,170.67.

JSE majors fall in early trading – Monday

Trading in the early morning session on the Jamaica Stock Exchange, on Monday saw the main market indices dropping sharply by just under 1,500 points as per the all Jamaica Composite Index. The junior market enjoyed a moderate bounce.
