Tuesday, 14th January 2014 |  In forex trading, the US dollar rates climbed while the Pound sterling declined and the Canadian dollar rates were mixed.

Purchases of the US dollar currency amounted to US$25,354,603 as the buying rate rose by 10 cents to end at $106.09 and selling amounted to US$21,692,122 but the rate inched up by 2 cents to $106.71.

The Canadian dollar gained 32 cents in buying C$1,579,432 to close at $96.74 and C$927,912 was sold at $98.90, a fall of 19 cents.

Purchases of the British Pound amounted to £1,132,395 but the rate was unchanged at $172.73 and selling amounted to £448,682, the rate fell 30 cents to $174.67.

Other currencies bought, amounted to the equivalent of US$229,172 with selling of US$484,436. Total currency purchases amounted to US$28,867,835 and selling of US$23,762,273, US dollar equivalent.

Highs & Lows | The highest buying rate for the US dollar closed at $107.25, a decline of 35 cents, the lowest buying rate climbed 42 cents to $86.84. The highest selling rate dropped by $1.87 to $109.41 but the low was unchanged at $86.42.

The highest buying rate for the Canadian dollar ended at $99.26, a 26 cents increase, while the low remained at $78.02. The highest selling rate fell by $2.50 at $100.50 and the lowest closed up 35 cents at $94.35.

The highest buying rate for the British Pound ended at $176.20, down 45 cents and the low fell 83 cents at $140.27. The highest selling rate dropped by $3.79 cents to end at $178.11 and the low closed down $1 at $169.

Monday, 13th January 2014 | In Forex trading, total currency purchases amounted to US$41,818,461 and selling of US$43,964,802 as the US dollar declined and Canadian dollar rose against the Jamaican dollar.

Purchases of the US dollar currency amounted to US$35,368,225, slightly more than the US$24,088,617 purchased on Friday.  The buying rate rose by 3 cents to end at $105.99 and selling climbed to US$40,418,942 but the rate fell by 5 cents to $106.69. Sales on Friday was US$30,874,993 in contrast. The Canadian dollar gained 37 cents in buying C$2,028,009 to close at $96.05 and C$1,278,207 was sold at $98.09, a gain of 21 cents.

Purchases of the British Pound amounted to £2,357,508, and the rate fell by $1.57 to $172.74 and selling amounted to £1,019,811. The rate fell 94 cents to $145.97. Other currencies bought, amounted to the equivalent of US$763,267 with selling of US$698,202.

Highs & Lows | The highest buying rate for the US dollar closed at $107.60, increasing by 50 cents, the low was unchanged at $86.42. The highest selling rate moved up by 53 cents to $111.28 and the low dropped $16.18 to $86.42.

The highest buying rate for the Canadian dollar ended at $99, a 50 cents increase, while the low remained at $78.02. The highest selling rate ended up $1 at $103 and the lowest closed unchanged at $94.

The highest buying rate for the British Pound ended at $176.65, up 25 cents and the low closed up $1.16 at $141.10. The highest selling rate grew by $3.94 cents to end at $181.90 and the low closed at $170, up by 90 cents.

Friday, 10th January 2014 | In forex trading, purchases was less that sales by US$6 million. Purchases amounted to US$28,384,526 and selling US$34,269,368 (US dollar equivalent).

Purchases of the US dollar currency amounted to US$24,088,617; the rate remained unchanged at $105.96 and selling amounted to US$30,874,993 for an 11 cents increase to $106.74. The Canadian dollar lost 88 cents in the buying to $96.05 as C$951,727 was purchased and C$506,901 was sold at $97.88, a fall of 45 cents. The drop in the rates for the Canadian dollar over the past two days reflects weakness in the Canadian economy and strength in the US economy with market activities internationally playing a role in adjusting the rates between the US and Canadian dollars.

Purchases of the British Pound amounted to £1,922,048, an increase of $1.23 to $175.90 and selling came to £1,694,301, falling 10 cents to $175.90. Other currencies bought amounted to the equivalent of US$271,456 with selling of US$137,283.

Highs & Lows | The highest buying rate for the US dollar closed at $107.10 and was down by 15 cents, the low was unchanged at $86.42. The highest selling rate gained $2.07 to $110.75 and the low dropped 90 cents to $102.60.

The highest buying rate for the Canadian dollar ended at $98.50, a decline of 76 cents, while the low fell $1.91 cents to $78.02. The highest selling rate ended up 50c t0 $102 and the lowest closed at $94 down 70 cents.

The highest buying rate for the Pound ended at $176.40, off by 10 cents and the low was unchanged at $139.94. The highest selling rate declined by 34 cents to end at $177.96 and the low closed at $169.10, up by $2.10.

Thursday, 9 January 2013 | In forex trading, purchases exceeded selling moderately. Purchases amounted to US$30,897,841 and selling US$29,407,332 US dollar equivalent.

Purchases of the US dollar currency amounted to US$26,929,439 with the rate rising by 18 cents to end at $105.96 and selling amounted to US$26,877,868 for a 14 cents increase to $106.62. The Canadian dollar lost 83 cents in the buying and selling rates as C$1,235,481 was purchased for an average rate of $96.93 and C$922,969 was sold at $98.33.

Purchases of the British Pound amounted to £1,625,175, an increase of 84 cents to $173.08 and selling came to £856,530, the rate increased by $1.05 to $176. Other currencies bought amounted to the equivalent of US$183,378 with selling of US$264,394.

Highs & Lows | The highest buying rate for the US dollar closed at $107.25 and was up by 25 cents, the low was unchanged at $86.42. The highest selling rate dropped $2.07 to $108.68 and the low gained 90 cents to $103.50.

The highest buying rate for the Canadian dollar ended at $99.26, a decline of 74 cents, while the low was up by 83 cents to $79.93. The highest selling rate ended with $1 off at $101.50 and the lowest closed at $94.70, down 60 cents.

The highest buying rate for the Pound ended at $176.50, up 40 cents and the low was inched up 8 cents to $139.94. The highest selling rate rose by 19 cents to end at $178.30 and the low closed at $167, down $1.50.

Monday, 6th January 2014 | For the second consecutive day, the amount of foreign currencies bought was more that the amount sold. While on Friday the difference was nearly US$5 million, on Monday it came out at US$6.7 million. The currency mostly in demand, the US dollar, was more than the amount sold by US$3.6 million as the selling rate for the US dollar and British Pound slipped but the Canadian rose.

Buys & Sales | Dealers bought US$35,024,822 on Monday as the buying rate fell by 14 cents to $105.59; the selling rate inched up a cent to $106.36 as dealers sold only US$31,449,963 of the amount bought. C$2,663,767 was bought at 98.13 for a cent reduction and selling was for C$1,202,972 at a rate of $99.69, down by 54 cents. Dealers bought £1,983,059 at an average rate of $172.19, the same as on Friday, and sold only £930,977 at $174.87 for a fall of 59 cents.

Other currencies purchased amounted to the US dollar equivalent of $490,466 and sales translated to US$443,763. The total amount of currencies bought was US$41,224,803 and the total amount sold US$34,552,012.

Highs & Lows | There were mixed results in buying and selling at the highest and lowest rates with 4 declines 5 increases and 3 rates closing unchanged. The US dollar was bought as high as $106.95, slippage of 40 cents but the lowest buying rate and the highest selling rate remained unchanged at $86.42 and at $110.75 respectively and the lowest selling closed at $86.01, up by $1.77.

The highest buying rate for the Canadian dollar went at $101.50, the same as on Friday. The low was a 70 cents increase to $79.80, the high for selling was $103, an increase of 46 cents but the low inched up by 5 cents to $96.20.

The British Pound went as high as $176.70, up 70 cents buying and fell 41 cents to hit $139.86 for the lowest buying rate. The high for selling was down $1.68 to $177.44 and the low fell by 25 cents to $168.50.

Friday, 3rd January 2013 | Today there was more buying of currencies than the amount sold by nearly US$5 million; the purchase of the currency mostly in demand, the US dollar, was more than the amount sold by almost US$4 million as the selling rate for the US dollar and British Pound slipped but the Canadian rose.

Buys & Sales | Dealers picked up US$32,556,966 on Friday as the buying rate climbed by 27 cents to $105.73. The selling rate slipped 5 cents to $106.34 as dealers only sold US$28,900,623 of the amount bought. C$1,375,007 was bought at 98.14 for a 22 cents increase and selling was for C$920,996 at a rate of $100.23 down by 50 cents; dealers bought £1,110,238 at an average rate of $172.19, down 65 cents and sold £603,311 at $175.46 for a fall of 47 cents.

Other currencies purchased amounted to the US dollar equivalent of $293,346 and sales translate to US$236,126. The total amount of currencies bought was US$35,934,681 and the total amount sold US$31,000,271.

Highs & Lows | There were mixed results in buying and selling at the highest and lowest rates with 4 declines 4 increases and 4 rates closing unchanged. The US dollar was bought as high as $107.35, slippage of 15 cents but all the others were unchanged at the end of trading and as low ended at $86.42; the highest selling rate remained at $110.75 and the lowest selling closed at $86.01.

The highest buying rate for the Canadian dollar went at $101.50, a 25 cents increase and the low was unchanged at $79.10; the high for selling was $102.54, a decrease of 46 cents but the low jumped 85 cents to $96.15.

The British Pound went as high as $176 or $3.32 lower in buying and surge by $40.27 to hit $140.27 for the low and the high for selling came out at $179.12, up by 84 cents and the low fell by 25 cents to $ 168.75.

Thursday, 2nd January 2013 | Forex trading on the first trading day of 2014 saw the equivalent of US$22,004,093 being bought by dealers and US$25,258,390 sold.

Trading in the individual currencies saw US$18,632,067 being bought with the rate falling 25 cents to $105.46 and selling of US$22,604,821, the rate inched up a cent to $106.39. There was buying of C$1,416,816 with the rate declining by $1.07 to $97.92 and selling of C$716,902, the rate closed up a cent to $99.73. Buying of the British Pound resulted in £1,102,913 being acquired by dealers at $172.85, which was down by 72 cents. Sales amounted to £760,451 at a rate that was up by 8 cents to end at $175.92.

Trading in other currencies amounted to the equivalent of US$249,021 being bought and selling of US$724,021.

Highs & Lows | There were mix results in buying and selling at the highest and lowest rates as the US dollar was bought as high as $107.50, unchanged at the end of trading and as low as $86.42 for an increase of 41 cents but there was no change to the highest selling rate of $110.75 while the low was $2.04 down to $86.01.

The highest buying rate for the Canadian dollar went at $101.25, a 25 cents fall and the low was at $79.10, a decrease of 41 cents; the high for selling was $103.00, an increase of 50 cents but the low remained unchanged at $95.30.

The British Pound went as high as $179.32 or $2.02 higher for the buying and declined $38.61 to hit $100.00 for the low and the high for selling came out at $178.28, down by 84 cents and the low increased by 90 cents to $169.00.

Tuesday, 31st December 2013 | The final trading day of 2013 ended with the rates for all three main currencies trading with higher rates against the Jamaican dollar.

The day ended with a total of the equivalent of US$43,119,322 purchased while selling accounted for the equivalent of US$39,407,647. Purchasing of the United States currency amounted to US$30,575,681 as the rate moved up 4 cents to $105.72 and selling of US$35,715,149 as the rate inched up 6 cents, to $106.38. Trading of the Canadian dollar resulted in purchases of C$7,318,927 as the rate increased by $1.61 to $98.99, selling amounted to C$1,046,853 with the rate climbing 34 cents to $99.72. Purchasing of the British Pound amounted to £3,251,560 with rate moving up by $1.35 to $173.56 and £982,390 was sold, the rate moved up 57 cents to $175.84.

Highs & Lows | The US dollar highest buying rate moved up by 50 cents to $107.50 and lowest and remained unchanged at $86.01 while the highest selling rate moved up 54 cents to $110.75 and the lowest selling rate increased by $2.04 to $88.05.

The Highest buying rate for the Canadian dollar remained unchanged at $101.50, the lowest buying rate increased by 8 cents to $79.51. The highest selling rate fell 50 cents to $102.50 and the lowest moved down by 70 cents to $95.30.

The highest buying rate for the British Pound increased $1 to $177.30 but the lowest remained unchanged at $138.61. The highest selling rate increased by 63 cents to $ 179.12 and the lowest jumped $1.10 to $168.10.

Monday, 3oth December 2013 | The first day of the last week of the year enjoyed a big day of forex trading with a total of the equivalent of US$56,567,718 purchased while selling accounted for the equivalent of US$44,805,418.

The purchasing of the United States currency amounted to US$49,217,733 as the rate moved up 29 cents to $105.67 and selling of US$41,565,468 as the rate inched down 6 cents, to $106.32. Trading of Canadian dollars amounted to purchases of C$2,468,790 as the rate declined by 36 cents to $97.38; there was selling of C$1,391,396 with the rate dropping $1.25 to $99.38. Purchasing of the British Pound was £2,914,703 with rate down by 29 cents to $172.21 and £917,667 was sold and the rate moving up 64 cents to $175.27.

Highs & Lows | The US dollar highest and lowest buying and highest selling rates remained unchanged at $107.00, $86.01 and $110.21 respectfully, while the lowest selling rate dropped $16.39 to $86.01.

The highest buying rate for the Canadian dollar increased by 60 cents to $101.50, the lowest buying rate remained unchanged at $79.43 while the highest selling rate increased 50 cents to $103.00 and the lowest moved up 30 cents to $96.00.

The highest buying rate for the British Pound remained unchanged at $176.30 but the lowest fell 21 cents to $138.61, the highest selling rate fell 26 cents to $178.49 and the lowest jumped $19.60 to $167.00.
