The all Jamaica Composite index of the Jamaica Stock Exchange went within 111 points of the 200,000 level in the morning session and having hit an intraday high of just over 199,889 points. The index closed with a marginal decline at the close of trading.
At the close the All Jamaica Composite Index slipped 31.43 points to end at 199,028.49, the index recorded gains of 18.9 percent for the year to date. The JSE Market Index lost 28.11 points to finish at 182,028.97. The JSE combined index rose 191.18 points to end at another record high of 194,029.48, with a gain for the year to date of 22.6 percent.
Trading ended with 35 securities changing hands, the prices of 17 stocks gained while 10 declined in the overall market, including 7 stocks rising and 2 falling, in the junior market. At the close with 6,289,353 units valued at $38,568,115 changed hands, compared to 11,768,589 units valued at $284,841,323 changing hands on Monday. The junior market accounted for 3,836,924 units changing hands, valued at $18,753,528 of the stocks traded.
ICI JSE sum 6-12-16 The average trade for the day in the main market ended at 106,627 shares compared to an average of 469,718 units traded on Monday with the average for the month to date being 237,896 units compared to 369,165 units for the month up to Monday. November ended with an average of 208,466 units.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, in the main and junior markets, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading shows 11 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and 6 with lower offers.
In market activity, Berger Paints gained 50 cents to close at $5.60 with 12,871 shares trading, Cable & Wireless remained firm in trading 639,564 units to close at 80 cents, Caribbean Cement fell 89 cents in trading 58,206 shares to close at $31.11, Jamaica Broilers ended trading with 12,399 units, to close at $14.90. Jamaica Producers closed with a gain of 20 cents at $8.50 with 126,466 shares changing hands, but traded at a new intraday 52 weeks’ high of $9.25. Jamaica Stock Exchange traded 16,500 shares, to end at $5.40, ICI JSE fnqts 6-12-16 Margaritaville Turks fell 2 cents with 3,200 shares trading, to close at 23 US cents.Mayberry Investments ended trading in 50,300 shares, to close at $3.88, after losing 20 cents, National Commercial Bank shed 15 cents and ended at $49.50 with 15,961 shares changing hands, Radio Jamaica rose 10 cents in trading just 1,181 units, to close at $1.40, Sagicor Group closed with 19,204 shares changing hands at $26, Scotia Group dropped $1.73, with 329,592 shares changing hands, to close at $33.27. Scotia Investments climbed 90 cents with 16,385 units changing hands, to close at $33.90, Seprod jumped $2 to end at $29 with 18,636 shares being swapped by investors, Supreme Ventures ended at $4.80 with 123,515 units changing hands and JMMB Group 7.50% preference share, closed with 972,825 units changing hands at $1.08, after gaining 2 cents.
