The JSE Market Index surged 1,657.43 points to a 5th consecutive record close, of 246,383.83.
The JSE US dollar market index lost 12.74 points to close at 188.43 with 2 securities trading in the US dollar market, including one preference share. Trading in the US dollar market accounted for 135,953 units valued at US$37,081.
At the close of trading, 26 securities changed hands in the main market, leading to 13 stocks advancing and 9 declining and the price of one stock in the US dollar market fell.
