TTSE suffers big fall – Friday

Stocks prices mostly pulled back, with some falling sharply Trinidad and Tobago Exchange on Friday at the close of trading, leaving the main market indices with sizable declines as just one stock rose. At the close, the ICIndicator suggests a more positive tone on Monday, with the bids of five stocks closing higher than their last selling prices and two with lower offers.
Market activity ended with the volume of stocks traded rising 97 percent while values were 117 percent higher when compared to Thursday as trading resulted in 254,549 shares for $6,034,898 compared to 129,140 shares valued at $2,841,182 on Thursday. The market closed after 14 securities traded, up from nine on Thursday and ended with one advancing, six declining and seven remaining unchanged.
Trading averaged 18,182 units at $431,064 versus an average of 14,349 units at $315,687 on Thursday. Month to date averaged 16,842 shares at $339,903 compared to 16,334 units at $305,410 on Thursday. November closed with an average of 12,529 shares for $181,770.
The T&T Composite Index declined 7.07 points to 1,289.73, the All T&T Index dropped 13.04 points to 1,715.35, while the Cross Listed Index lost 0.14 points to close at 116.71.
Stocks rising│ Republic Financial Holdings, the sole stock advancing, gained a mere 2 cents to close at $133.03, trading 3,816 shares.
Stocks declining│ Angostura Holdings dropped $1.44 to $14.96, after an exchange of 1,500 shares, Grace Kennedy lost 1 cent to settle at $3.69, with just 6 units crossing the market, Guardian Holdings shed 60 cents in transferring 5,242 units at $20.40. Massy Holdings declined $2 to $57 after trading 75,000 shares, Trinidad and Tobago NGL slid 55 cents to $14.50 while exchanging 13,904 stock units and West Indian Tobacco ended 28 cents lower at $33.22, with a mere 4 units changing hands.
Stocks trading firm│ First Citizens Bank exchanged 4,612 units at $44, JMMB Group remained at $1.80, in exchanging 6,117 units, National Enterprises traded 104,405 shares at $3. National Flour transferred 33,750 shares at $2, One Caribbean Media held firm at $4.80, with 221 units changing hands, Scotiabank closed at $55.49, after 5,822 units crossed the market and Unilever Caribbean traded 150 units at $16.70.
