The number of securities traded on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market rose on Wednesday over Tuesday but trading resulted in 79 percent fewer shares changing hands and ended with seven securities trading, compared to five on Tuesday with the price of one rising, two declining and four remaining unchanged.
The JSE USD equity index climbed 7.35 points to 194.18, while the average PE Ratio ended at 13.7 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 30,450 shares, accounting for US$4,741 compared to 144,602 units at US$5,383 on Tuesday. Trading averaged 4,350 units changing hands at US$677, in contrast to an average of 28,920 shares at US$1,077 on Tuesday. Trading month to date averaged 62,735 units at US$9,664, in contrast to 70,909 units at US$10,922 on Tuesday. By comparison, November ended with an average of 51,134 units for US$4,516.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading shows no stock ended with the bid higher than the last selling price and two with lower offers.
At the close of the market, First Rock Capital Investment gained half of a cent to close at 9 US cents in exchanging 5,730 shares, Margaritaville remained at 11 US cents, with the trading of 282 units, Proven Investments held firm at 25.99 US cents after an exchange of 4,314 stock units. Sterling Investments lost 0.02 of a cent to end at 2.38 US cents, with investors swapping 2,924 units, Sygnus Credit Investments closed at 16 US cents in trading 9,000 stock units and Transjamaican Highway ended at 0.95 of a US cent, after exchanging 6,700 shares.
In the preference segment, JMMB Group 6% declined by 5 US cents to settle at US$1, with investors switching ownership of 1,500 units.
