Winning run continues Wednesday

The Junior Market index inched closer to the 3,000 mark on Wednesday, gaining 5.06 points to settle at 2,986.61 after the market moved to 3,011.57 immediately as the market opened, but the early gains fizzled away subsequently to the close of the market with gains for the year of 13 percent.
The top three volume leaders saw transfers of over one million units, collectively accounting for 64 percent of the day’s trade. Lumber Depot led trading with 33.3 percent of total volume or 4.04 million shares, followed by Fosrich with 17.9 percent of the day’s trade for 2.18 million units for and GWest 13 percent, with an exchange of 1.58 million stocks.
Trading ended with 36 securities changing hands compared to 33 on Tuesday, with 15 stocks rising, 12 declining and nine remaining unchanged. The average PE Ratio ended at 17 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed trading with 17 percent fewer shares than on Tuesday after an exchange of 12,160,533 shares for $36,790,003, down from 14,669,963 units at $43,192,636 on Tuesday.

Juniors in easy reach of 3,000 points mark

Straight out of the opening, stocks prices rose and pushed the market index up nine points at the start and up 29 points just before half an hour of trading having elapsed on Tuesday. As the morning progressed, buying pressure constantly pushed the index along to close out just below the 3,000 points mark and the day’s peak of 2,983.41 on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange.
The Junior Market Index surged 35.57 points to close at 2,981.55, just 19 points adrift of the 3,000 mark and shy of the previous best close of 2,994.69 points, on February 10, last year and recording a gain of 12.8 percent for the year to date.
Trading ended with 33 securities changing hands, down from 37 on Monday and closed with the prices of 12 stocks rising, 12 declining and nine remaining unchanged.
The PE Ratio averaged 16.9 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Trading volume and vales rose 258 percent and 243 percent respectively above Monday levels with an exchange of 14,669,963 shares for $43,192,636, up from 4,093,792 units at $12,580,039 on Monday. Limners and Bards dominated trading with 74 percent of total volume in exchanging 10.92 million shares, followed by Jamaican Teas with 7.4 percent or 1.08 million units and Lasco Manufacturing with 5.7 percent for 839,196 units.

In the preference segment, CAC 2000 9.5% preference share fell 35 cents to $1.15 after exchanging 8,886 stocks.

New 13 month high for Junior market

Investors continue to drive the prices higher at the closed of trading on Monday, pushing the market to a thirteen-month high on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange, with the market index closing just below the close of 2,947.43 points on February 21 last year.

The junior market now at 13 months high.

The market closed after an even number of stocks advanced as declined and four stocks traded at 52 weeks’ high and the Market Index advanced 21.83 points to settle at 2,945.98. The PE Ratio averaged 16.9 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Trading ended with 37 securities changing hands up from 34 on Friday and closed with prices of 15 rising, 15 declining and seven remaining unchanged. Indies Pharma surged 27 percent to a record high, Blue Power traded at a 52 weeks’ high of $4.47 but ended lower at the close. Lasco Distributors and CAC2000 preference share ended at 52 weeks’ high.
Market activity ended with 72 percent fewer shares trading, valued 71 percent less than on Friday as 4,093,792 shares traded for $12,580,039 versus 14,753,485 units at $42,656,041 on Friday. Limners and Bards posted strong gains in first quarter results to January that pushed the stock price up 12 percent, for the day and, along with 17 others, helped the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange in recording a modest gain on Thursday, after the market index rose 38 points after 40 minutes of trading.
At the close, 38 securities traded, up from 33 on Wednesday, with prices of 18 rising, 11 declining and nine remaining unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index rose 18.71 points to settle at 2,923.25. The  PE Ratio averaged 16.4 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.

Junior Market falters on Wednesday

Stocks fell in Wednesday’s trading session on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange as the market continues to struggle to break through the 2,900 points barrier, with falling stocks far outnumbering rising ones as investors traded slightly fewer shares than on Tuesday.
Trading ended with 35 securities compared to 39 on Tuesday and ended with just eight stocks rising, while 22 declined and five remained unchanged.

Trading accounted for 19,450,213 shares at $50,663,938 up from 5,541,055 units at $16,892,321 on Friday. Derrimon Trading led with 67.6 percent of total volume for an exchange of 13.15 million shares, followed by Stationery and Office Supplies with 6.7 percent for 1.30 million units, Lumber Depot chipped in with 5.4 percent of the day’s trade for 1.06 million units and Tropical Battery 5.3 percent with1.03 million units changing hands.
Trading averaged 525,681 units at $1,369,296 up from 162,972 at $496,833 on Friday. Trading month to date averaged 267,918 units at $742,771, compared to 215,515 units at $615,400 on Friday. February closed with an average of 365,365 units at $881,118.

Jetcon Corporation slipped 10 cents to 70 cents, with 20,249 stocks changing hands, Knutsford Express lost 9 cents to end at $5.91 with 2,942 shares crossing the exchange, Lasco Distributors slipped 9 cents to $3.65 with investors switching ownership of 48,264 stock units. Limners and Bards lost 5 cents in ending at $2.60 after 114,395 shares crossed the market. Mailpac Group lost 5 cents to end at $3.45 in trading 283,696 stock units, Main Event finished 5 cents lower at $3.35 trading 1,116 shares. Medical Disposables rose 19 cents to $4.49 with 15,796 stocks changing hands, Paramount Trading fell 18 cents $1.32, with an exchange of 25,000 units, SSL Venture declined 8 cents to 56 cents in transferring 56,320 stock units and Stationery and Office Supplies rose 9 cents to $4.62, with 1,299,342 shares clearing the market.

Gains for Junior market

Trading closed on Friday, with the market index rising but with the volume traded falling 47 percent and values 41 percent lower than on Thursday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market.
The Market Index rose 24.73 points to 2,897.33 for a gain of 9.6 percent for the year to date. Similar to Thursday, 34 securities changed hands, with 19 rising, 12 declining and three remaining unchanged. The average PE Ratio ended at 16.4 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Investors exchanged 5,541,055 shares for $16,892,321 down from 10,531,327 units at $28,812,102 on Thursday. Jamaican Teas led trading with 22 percent of total volume for an exchange of 1.22 million shares, followed by Mailpac Group with 17.3 percent for 956,880 units and Caribbean Flavours with 11.8 percent for 656,369 shares.
Trading averaged 162,972 units at $496,833 slipping from 309,745 at $847,415 on Thursday. Trading month to date averaged 215,515 units at $615,400, compared to 227,586 units at $642,639 on Thursday. February closed with an average of 365,365 units at $881,118.

Elite Diagnostic lost 5 cents to finish at $3 with 16,000 stocks changing hands, Fontana gained 5 cents to end at $5.80 trading 29,287 shares, GWest Corporation rose 6 cents to 89 cents with 125,397 units crossing the market, iCreate gained 5 cents to close at 75 cents with the swapping of 31,729 shares. Indies Pharma declined 23 cents to $3.18 after investors exchanged 550,100 stock units. Iron Rock Insurance fell 52 cents to $2.98, with 8,075 shares crossing the market. Knutsford Express slipped 51 cents to $6 in trading 18,167 shares, Lasco Distributors rose 14 cents to $3.74, with 4,197 stock units changing hands. Lasco Manufacturing gained 8 cents in ending at $4.34 after a transfer of 23,242 units, Lumber Depot gained 4 cents to close at $2.68 in an exchange of 522,779 units, Main Event fell 6 cents to $3.40 in an exchange of 14,000 stocks and Paramount Trading rose 18 cents to $1.50 in the switching of ownership of 37,500 stock units.
