JSE USD jumps 7% on Monday

Trading on Monday ended with the volume of shares changing hands declining after a fraction of shares exchanged on Friday, passed through the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market, resulting in more stocks rising than falling and the market rose 7 percent for the day.
Seven securities traded, compared to five on Friday, with five rising, one declining and one ending unchanged.
The JSE US Denominated Equities Index surged 14.55 points to end at 214.56, up 15 percent for the year to date.
The PE Ratio, a measure used in computing appropriate stock values, averages 12.7. The PE ratio uses earnings forecasts done by ICInsider.com for each company with the financial year ending during the current year up to August 2022.
Overall, 89,952 shares traded, for US$7,974 compared to 25,247,952 units at US$3,090,795 on Friday. Trading averaged 12,850 units at US$1,139, versus 5,049,590 shares at US$618,159 on Friday and month to date averages 680,705 shares at US$91,754 versus 800,576 units at US$108,018 on Friday. November ended with an average of 79,766 units for US$10,928.

At the close, Margaritaville rose 1 cent to 11 US cents in switching ownership of 8,310 shares, Productive Business Solutions rose 17.25 cents to a 52 weeks’ high of US$1.334 with the swapping of 29 stocks, Proven Investments fell 0.5 of a cent to end at 22.5 US cents after exchanging 28,513 stock units. Sterling Investments ended at 2.1 US cents in an exchange of 3,000 units, Sygnus Credit Investments USD share spiked 0.98 of a cent to close at 12.98 US cents after two shares changed hands shares and Transjamaican Highway popped 0.07 of a cent to 0.86 US cents with 50,000 units clearing the market.
In the preference segmentEquityline Mortgage Investment preference share advanced 9.9 cents to end at US$1.999 after trading 98 stock units.

Slippage for JSE USD Market

Trading activity picked up on the Jamaica Stock Exchange USD market on Tuesday with the market, with 445 percent more shares, but with 60 percent less the value than on Monday, after an increase of eight securities changing hands, compared to six on Monday as no stock recording gains.
Transjamaican Highway was the volume leader accounting for 2.51 million of the 2,508,722 shares traded, with a value of US$28,103 compared to 460,180 units trading at US$70,670 on Monday.
The JSE USD Equity Index lost 9.73 points to end at 197.33 as four stocks declined and four closed unchanged. The average PE Ratio ended at 12.3 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings.
Trading averaged 313,590 units at US$3,513, in contrast to 76,697 shares at US$11,778 on Monday. May ended with an average of 138,035 units for US$17,391.

In the preference segment, JMMB Group 6% settled at US$1.10 with 129 shares changing hands.

Trading on Thursday ended with the market index rising after trading 153 percent more shares than on Wednesday, with the value jumping 659 percent higher at the close of the US dollar market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange. 
Trading ended with six securities changing hands, compared to seven on Wednesday, with one stock rising, four declining and one remaining unchanged.
The JSE USD Equity Index gained 4.08 points to end at 208.08. The average PE Ratio ends at 12.8 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings.
At the close of trading, 1,033,909 shares changed hands for US$153,480, up from  408,971 units at US$20,220 on Wednesday.
Trading averaged 172,318 units at US$25,580, up from 58,424 shares at US$2,889 on Wednesday. Trading averaged 98,348 units for the month to date at US$11,504 in contrast to 94,121 units at US$10,700 on the prior trading day. April ended with an average of 80,293 units for US$6,320.

Trading sank on the shortened trading session on Friday with 73 percent fewer shares changed hands than on Thursday, on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market, resulting in no stock recording gains and sending the market index into a decline for the day and for a shortened week.

Trading on Wednesday ended with the market rising after 88 percent fewer shares passed through the market than on Tuesday, on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market. 

Just four securities traded, down from six on Tuesday and ended with two stocks rising, one declining and one remaining unchanged. The JSE USD Equity Index rose 3.83 points to end at 211.27, up 13.4 percent for the year to date.

Investors exchanged 86,122 shares for US$17,581, down from 734,815 units at US$20,472 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 21,531 units at US$4,395, down from 122,469 shares at US$3,412 on Tuesday. The average trade for the month to date amounts to 57,110 units for US$3,132 in contrast to 68,058 units at US$2,743 on Tuesday. Trading in March averaged 68,746 units at US$13,137.

Trading ended with the volume of stocks trading jumping 265 percent on Thursday over Wednesday’s level, leading the JSE USD Equity Index in gaining 5.87 points to end 210.27, to be up 12.9 percent for the year to date, at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market, on the first day of the new quarter, ahead of the Easter break.
