Juniors gain with 5 stocks rising

Trading activity picked up on the Junior market on Monday, with the market closing with 11 securities trading and ending in 1,776,893 units changing hands valued at $2,970,218. The JSE Junior Market Index declined 6 points to close at 817, with the price of 5 stocks advancing and 1 declining.
An indicator of the state of the market at the close, can be seen by the number of stocks with bids versus offers, as well as the numbers that close with bids being higher or lower than the last sale price. AT the close there were 4 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and only 1 with a lower. The junior market ended with 5 securities closing with no bids to buy and 9 securities that had no stocks being offered for sale.
Stocks trading in the junior market are, Blue Power trading 6,000 units and gained $1.30 to end at $8.81.

Caribbean Cream had 11,000 units changing hands and ending 16 cents higher at 81 cents, Caribbean Producers had 80,935 shares trading at $2.99 with a loss of 11 cents. Cargo Handlers closing at an all-time high of $21, while trading 10,000 units, to gain 89 cents. Honey Bun gained 2 cents, in trading 1,500 shares to end at $1.90, up 8 cents, Jamaican Teas had 12,422 units changing hands at $2.55, Knutsford Express closed with 7,016 units changing hands at $6, Lasco Distributors had 523,076 shares trading to close at $1.45 with no stock on offer at the close. Lasco Financial Services had 3,500 units changing hands traded at the close at $1.30, Lasco Manufacturing traded 821,444 shares and closed at $1.35 and Medical Disposables ended with 300,000 trading at $1.70.

Juniors near all-time high

Activity on the Junior Market closed with 6 securities trading and ending with 680,118 units changing hands valued at $867,840. The JSE Junior Market Index declined 25.07 points to close at 811.00, with the price of 3 stocks advancing and 4 declining, two stocks reached new 52 weeks high, with one hitting an all-time high.
The index is just 29 points from the all-time high of 840.18 reached in July 2013, this level is likely to be history once the Lasco companies report earnings, which should be the end of May, based on past reporting time frame. With nearly a third of the market closing with bids ahead of the last traded price, the all-time high should be easily taken out in a matter of days. The junior market is lagging the gains of the main market Jamaican stocks with gains of just 14 percent in 2015 and 33 percent from the low of July 2014, compared to 26 percent for the Main market and 39 percent respectively.
At the close of the market, there were 7 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and only 2 with lower offers. Lasco Distributors with only 1,285 shares trading, closed at $1.43, Lasco Financial Services had 134,913 units trading and ended at $1.30 with a gain of 10 cents and Lasco Manufacturing traded just 1,355 shares with a gain of 14 cents to $1.35, for a new 52 weeks’ high.

Activity on the Junior Market closed with 6 securities traded ending with 149,771 units changing hands valued at $179,558. The JSE Junior Market Index gained 4.29 points to close at 732.18, with the price of 4 stocks advancing and 2 declining.
Stocks trading in the junior market are, Access Financial Services traded 200 shares at $13.21, as the price eased 1 cent, Caribbean Cream closed trading with 10,000 shares, to end with a 5 cents decline at a new low of 60 cents. The stock was initially recorded as trading at 76 cents at the start of market, but that trade was eventually cancelled, as the price it attempted to trade at, was in excess of 15 percent initially permitted, effectively triggering the initial circuit breaker and thus the freeze. JM 14-4-15 Trading in the stock was suspended for an hour before it was permitted to trade again. At the close there was a bid to buy 47,000 units at 60 cents.Caribbean Producers traded only 100 shares at $2.40, Lasco Distributors saw 51,418 units changing hands at $1.40 to gain 3 cents, Lasco Financial Services had 84,053 units trading to close at $1.10, after gaining a cent, after trading as high as $1.15 and Lasco Manufacturing put through 4,000 shares at 1.06 to gain 1 cent.
The market closed with AMG Packaging having a bid for 41,000 shares to buy at $2.50, compared to a last sale of $2.26.
