Junior market in big points drop

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Index dived 54.19 points to settle at 2,540.11 when the trading closed on Monday, after falling stocks, overwhelmed those rising and investors traded 38 percent more shares with four percent less value than on Friday.
Trading ended with 34 securities changing hands compared to 27 on Friday, with the prices of seven stocks rising, the prices of 19 declining and eight remaining unchanged.  At the close of the market, the average PE Ratio of the market ended
at 10.3 based on IC Insider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 4,784,350 shares for $13,556,616  compared to 3,470,609 units at $14,092,682 on Friday.Lasco Distributors led trading with 1.53 million shares for 31.9 percent of total volume followed by Everything Fresh with 747,741 units for 15.6 percent of the day’s trade and iCreate with 610,064 units for 12.8 percent market share.
Trading ended with an average of 140,716 units at $398,724 in contrast to 128,541 at $521,951 on Friday.  For the month to date, there was an average trade of 136,907 units at $388,825, in comparison to 136,446 units at $387,627 on Friday. Trading in July resulted in an average of 248,153 units at $668,727.

Everything Fresh fell 8 cents to 66 cents, with 747,741 shares changing hands, Express Catering shed 5 cents to end at $3.85 with investors switching ownership of 6,056 shares, Fontana fell 1 cent in ending at $4.98, with 48,119 units clearing the market. General Accident carved out a loss 70 cents and ended at $6.50 with investors switching ownership of 505,006 units, GWest Corporation added 5 cents to close at 75 cents, trading of 2,000 units, Honey Bun carved out a loss 15 cents to close at $4.95, with 22,900  shares changing hands. iCreate rose 3 cents to close at 68 cents, with 610,064 stock units passing through the market, Iron Rock Insurance lost 40 cents to end at $3 in exchanging 800 units, Jamaican Teas gained 15 cents to end at $4.65 while exchanging 78,695 stock units. Jetcon Corporation dropped by 9 cents to settle at 89 cents in trading 91,736 stocks, Lasco Distributors dropped 34 cents to close at $3 while exchanging 1,527,013 stock units, Lasco Manufacturing lost 2 cents to close at $3.97 in clearing the market with 17,315 shares. Lumber Depot dipped by 1 cent to end at $1.04 in an exchange of 131,521 stocks, Mailpac Group lost 6 cents to finish at   $2.02, with 438,799 units crossing the exchange, Main Event dropped 49 cents to settle at $3.50, with 21,720 units changing hands. Medical Disposables lost 10 cents to end at $4.90, after 18,999 stocks crossed the exchange and SSL Venture fell 11 cents to 75 cents, with an exchange of 1,000 units.

Junior Market just hangs on to gains

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange just helped on to a modest gain at closed on Friday, with the market inching higher after an almost equal number of stocks rose and declined after a small eight percent more shares changed hands than on Thursday.
Trading ended with 27 securities changing hands compared to 31 on  Thursday and ended with the prices of eight stocks rising, the prices of nine declining and ten with remaining unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index rose 4.85 points to end at 2,599.86, the average PE Ratio of the market ended at 10.5 based on IC Insider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 3,470,609 units at $14,092,682 compared to 3,221,829 units at $8,756,559 on Thursday.
Jamaican Teas led trading with 1.96 million shares for 56.4 percent of total volume, followed by Mailpac Group with 719,506 units for 20.7 percent of the day’s trade and Fontana with 183,647 units for 5.3 percent market share.
Trading ended with an average of 128,541 units at $521,951 in contrast to  103,930 at $282,470  on Thursday. For the month to date, the average trade resulted in an exchange of 136,446 shares at  $382,221, in comparison to 137,315 units at $373,348 on Thursday. Trading to date compares adversely to July, with an average of 248,153 units at $668,727.

Lumber Depot increased 2 cents in closing at $1.05 and trading 2,100 units. Big Junior Market drop

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Thursday, with the market dropping after more than twice the number of stocks fell than rose after trading 70 percent more shares than on Wednesday.
Trading on Thursday ended with a similar number of securities changing hands as Wednesday with market activity resulted in 31 securities changing hands, with the prices of eight stocks rising, 17 declining and six, with remaining unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index declined by 49.55 points to settle at 2,595.01 and the average PE Ratio of the market ended at 10.3 based on IC Insider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 3,221,829 shares for $8,756,559 compared to 1,895,699 units at $7,143,931 on Wednesday. Mailpac Group led trading with 1.02 million shares for 31.6 percent of total volume, followed by Derrimon Trading with 330,000 units for 10.2 percent of the day’s trade and Fontana with 252,307 units for 7.8 percent market share.

Heavy Junior Market trading

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Tuesday, with the market slipping slightly after rising stocks just edged out declining ones, with after investors traded more than three times more shares and four and a half times the value than on Monday.

Mailpac dominated trading on Tuesday after the company posted 33% revenues rise.

Trading ended with 33 securities changing hands compared to 32 on Monday and ended with the prices of 14 stocks rising, the prices of 13 stocks declining and six remaining unchanged.

Profit jumps 69% at Lasco Distributors

Profit at Lasco Distributors before tax soared by 69 percent to $317 million from a combination of higher revenues and lower administrative and other costs, but with a lower profit margin.
The company reported $187 million in profit before tax for the 2019 quarter. After-tax profit increased 57 percent from $164 million in 2019 to $258, from sales revenues that rose 8.44 percent to $4.7 billion.
Direct costs moved 10 percent from $3.5 billion to $3.8 billion and gross profit rose only 4 percent from $865 million to $896 million.
Other income jumped to $73 million from $53 million, while operating expenses fell 10 percent to $651 million from $725 million.
“During the period, there was an increase in our canned food products flagship – Lasco food, drink and pharmaceutical products. However, there has been a significant reduction in sales of beverage products due to closures of schools, hotels and social gatherings,” the Chairman, Lascelles Chin, noted in his report to shareholders.
Cash from operating activities was up to $1.2 billion from $26 million in 2019, contributing to the sharp improvement was a reduction in inventories, receivables and increased payables. At the end of June 2020,

shareholders’ equity stood at $5.8 billion compared to $5.4 billion in June 2019 and $5.7 billion at the end of the fiscal year ending March 2020. Total current assets stand at $7.5 billion inclusive of cash funds of $2.5 billion, receivables of $2.5 billion and inventories of $2.4 billion, while Current liabilities stood at $3.96 billion. The company has long-term borrowings of $9 million, with short term debt being a mere $76 million.
The company’s shares were listed on the Junior Market in October 2010, resulting in a tax concession of 10 years, which expires during the current fiscal year.
Earnings per share came out at 7 cents for the quarter and IC Insider.com is forecasting 40 cents per share for PE of 7.6 times earnings with the stock trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange at $3.05.

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange resumed trading after closing for the Independence Day on Thursday and ended trading on Friday, with the market rising after slightly more stocks rose than declined after investors exchanged 49 percent more shares than on Wednesday.
Trading ended with 31 securities changing hands compared to 30 on Wednesday and ended with the prices of 13 stocks rising, 12 declining and seven ending with prices remaining unchanged.
At the close, the market index rose 11.93 points to close at 2,606.15 and the average PE Ratio of the market ended at 10.6 based on IC Insider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 2,637,466 shares for $9,741,864 compared to 1,769,437 units at $5,986,775 on Wednesday.

Junior Market slips on Wednesday

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange ended trading on Wednesday with the market index declining after slightly more stocks fell than rose after investors traded nine percent more shares than on Tuesday.
Trading ended with 30 securities changing hands, down from 34 on Tuesday and ended with the prices of 12 stocks rising, 13 declining and five ended, with unchanged prices.
At the close, the Junior Market Index carved out a loss 24.83 points to settle at 2,594.22 and the average PE Ratio of the market ended at 10.5 based on IC Insider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
On a day of low volume, the market closed with an exchange of 1,769,437 shares for $5,986,775 compared to 1,625,055 units at $5,194,150 on Tuesday, with Mailpac Group ended as the leading trade with 612,063 shares for 34.6 percent of total volume. Fontana followed, with 252,183 units for 14.3 percent of the day’s trade and Derrimon Trading with 209,765 units for 12 percent market share.
The average traded for the date was 58,981 units at $199,559, in contrast to an average of 47,796 at $152,769 on Tuesday. An average of 138,617 units traded at $363,147 for the month to date, in comparison to 174,816 units at $437,506. Trading in July resulted in an average of 248,153 units at $668,727 trading.

Jamaican Teas fell 1 cent in closing at $4.99 while exchanging at 23,440 stocks, Jetcon Corporation lost 9 cents to end at 92 cents in an exchange of 3,000 stocks, KLE Group climbed 2 cents to settle at $1.42 and clearing the market with 2,700 shares. Lasco Distributors gained 2 cents to close at $3.27 in an exchange of 56,668 stock units, Lasco Financial lost 15 cents in closing at $2.35, with 5,505 stock units changing hands, Lasco Manufacturing shed 23 cents to end at $3.52 after 14,255 stocks passed through the market. Junior Market continues to inch higher

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange ended trading on Tuesday, with the market index advancing as more stocks rose than declined after investors traded a mere 16 percent of Monday’s volume at 22 percent of the value.
Trading ended with 34 securities changing hands compared to 32 on Monday and ended with the prices of 13 stocks rising. Prices of 10 stocks declined and prices of 11 remained unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index advanced by 15.97 points to settle at 2,619.05, and the average PE Ratio of the market ended at 10.8 based on IC Insider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Market activities concluded with an exchange of 1,625,055 shares for $5,194,150  compared to 9,920,174 shares for $23,681,230 on Monday.
Mailpac Group led trading with 303,405 shares for 18.7 percent of total volume followed by Jamaican Teas with 230,446 units for 14.2 percent of the day’s trade and Lumber Depot with 147,000 units for 9 percent market share.
Investors exchanged an average of 47,796 units at $152,769 in contrast to an average of 309,774 at $740,038 on Monday. An average of 174,816 units traded at $437,506 for the month to date.  Trading in July resulted in an average of 248,153 units changing hands at $668,727.

Limners and Bards climbed 21 cents to finish at $2.88 with investors transferring 27,316 stocks, Lumber Depot gained 1 cent to close at $1.07 with 147,000 shares changing hands, Mailpac Group declined 2 cents to end at $2.12 with an exchange of 303,405 stock units. Medical Disposables climbed 25 cents to close at $5.30 with 3,410 shares traded and tTech dipped 80 cents to close at $6.50, with 22,081 shares crossing the exchange.
