Junior Market recovers Wednesday’s loss

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Thursday, with the market rising as more stocks rose than fell after trading 67 percent more shares than on Wednesday.
Trading ended with 36 securities changing hands compared to 34 on Wednesday and ended with the prices of 15 stocks rising, the prices of 13 declining and eight with prices remaining unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index climbed 31.64 points to 2,459.89. The average PE Ratio ended at 10.7 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 3,541,908 shares for $7,409,597 compared to 2,113,018 units at $4,468,027 on Wednesday.
Lumber Depot led trading with 19 percent of the total volume with 672,209 shares changing hands, followed by AMG Packaging with 14.1 percent for an exchange of 499,469 units and Tropical Battery with 13.2 percent market share accounting for 469,072 stock units.
Trading ended with an average of 98,386 units at $205,822 in contrast to 62,148 at $131,413 on Wednesday. For October to date, the average trade resulted in an exchange of 228,645 units at $514,337, compared to 235,995 units at $531,745 on Wednesday. Trading in September ended with an average of 119,171 units at $249,355.
At the end of trading, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading for the market shows 10 stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and two with lower offers.
At the close of the market, Access Financial climbed $2 to end at $21 with a transfer of 8,641 shares, AMG Packaging declined by 13 cents and exchanged 499,469 units to settle at $1.71, Blue Power rose 2 cents to finish at $3.47, with 599 stock units passing through the market. Caribbean Assurance Brokers gained 10 cents to close at $1.95 with 15,009 shares traded, Caribbean Cream dropped 90 cents to end at $4 with 80,001 stocks changing hands, Caribbean Flavours slipped 1 cent to $1.73  with investors switching ownership of 22,011 stock units. Caribbean Producers fell 15 cents end at $2.15, with an exchange of 118,507 stocks, Consolidated Bakeries gained 4 cents to finish at $1.43 with 17 shares passing through the market, Derrimon Trading lost 13 cents to close at $2.39 with 70,528 units changing hands. Elite Diagnostic rose 4 cents to end at $3.09, trading 37,093 stock units, Everything Fresh lost 5 cents to settle at 72 cents with investors transferring 82,826 shares,  Express Catering climbed 25 cents to finish at $3.75 with an exchange of 812 shares. Fontana advanced 10 cents to close at $4.81 with 98,078 units passing through the market, Fosrich dropped 29 cents to end at $3.21 with 207,627 stocks changing hands, GWest Corporation increased 11 cents to settle at 89 cents with 2,019 stocks changing hands. iCreate lost 5 cents to finish at 65 cents with a transfer of 3,261 units, Indies Pharma gained 7 cents to close at $2.70 with an exchange of 24,897 stock units, ISP Finance jumped $1.50 to $22.50 with 156 shares passing through the market. Jamaican Teas advanced 13 cents to settle at $5 with 35,429 stock units changing hands, Jetcon Corporation fell 12 cents to close at 70 cents with 156,951 shares traded, Knutsford Express shed 59 cents to end at $5.71 with the swapping of 40,257 shares. Lasco Distributors declined 5 cents to settle at $3.10 in exchanging 105,600 stocks, Lasco Manufacturing increased 19 cents to finish at $3.59 with 110,395 shares passing through the market, Limners and Bards closed 5 cents higher at $2.52 with 213,000 stock units changing hands. Lumber Depot climbed 10 cents in exchanging 672,209 units to end at $1.20, Main Event dropped 68 cents to settle at $3.02 with investors transferring 1,680 units, Medical Disposables lost 5 cents to finish at $4.30 with 24,811 shares trading and Tropical Battery gained 3 cents to close at $1.23 with 469,072 shares crossing the exchange.

Junior Market positive close

The prices of rising stocks just edged out declining ones in trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange at the close on Wednesday. The market decline, trading 74 percent fewer shares than on Tuesday.
Trading ended with 34 securities changing hands compared to 38 on Tuesday and closed with the prices of 13 stocks rising, 12 declining and nine remaining unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index dived 29.71 points to settle at 2,428.25 and the PE Ratio averaged 10.6 based on the ICInsider.com forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 2,113,018 shares for $4,468,027 compared to 8,285,311 units at $34,641,926  on Tuesday. Tropical Battery led trading with 469,837 shares for 22.4 percent of total volume, followed by Everything Fresh with 324,125 units for 15.4 percent of the day’s trade and Mailpac Group with 10 percent market share for 210,100 units.

Junior Market index falters again

Trading surged with investors chasing after 156 percent more shares worth 388 percent more than Monday’s levels on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Tuesday.
Trading concluded with 38 securities changing hands compared to 37 on Monday and ended with the prices of 11 stocks rising, 21 declining and six with prices remaining unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index carved out a loss of 3.87 points to settle at 2,457.96 and the PE Ratio averaged 10.9 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 8,285,311 shares for $34,641,926  compared to 3,238,878 units at $7,097,152 on Monday. General Accident led trading with 55.7 percent of total volume in exchanging 4.61 million shares, followed by Lumber Depot with 7.7 percent or 640,674 units and  Tropical Battery with 7.4 percent after trading 610,629 units.

Junior Market Index plunges

The Junior Market Index of the Jamaica Stock Exchange plunged 50.34 points to 2,480.92 on the last trading day of August, with the prices of 12 stocks rising, 16 declining and five remaining unchanged, after 33 securities changed hands compared to 25 on Friday.
At the close, the average PE Ratio of the market ended at 10.2 based on IC Insider.com forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The Trading ended, with a 35 percent more shares passing through the market after investors exchanged  2,428,264 shares for $7,011,769 compared to  1,802,587   units at $6,948,536 on Friday. Mailpac Group led trading with 1.26 million shares for 51.8 percent of total volume followed  General Accident with 210,110 units for 8.7 percent of the day’s trade and iCreate with 210,000 units for 8.6 percent market share.
Trading ended with an average of 73,584 units at $212,478 in contrast to 72,103 at $277,941 on Friday. For the month to date, the average trade resulted in an exchange of 104,414 units at  $321,996, in comparison to 106,156 units at $328,185 on Friday. Trading in July resulted in an average of 248,153 units at $668,727.

Junior Market breaks losing streak

After attempting to rally on the previous four days with gains in the morning sessions and getting hit by selling that push the market lower on each occasion, the Junior Market finally relented and rose on Friday.
At the close, the Junior Market Index advanced 35.13 points to close at 2,414.24 after risen over 50 points at one stage of the day and left the average PE ratio ended at 8.8 times 2020-21 earnings. Market activities resulted in prices of 6 securities advancing, 12 losing and 12 remaining unchanged.
Trading concluded on Friday with an exchange of 30 securities, resulting in 2,927,416 units valued at $8,165,325 changing hands, compared to 24,912,363 units valued at $54,086,454 on Thursday. The stock exchange daily trading report for Friday has the incorrect total volume and value traded.
Trading ended with an average of 97,581 units at $272,177 for each security traded, in contrast to 711,782 units at an average of $1,545,327 on Thursday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to units 496,819 valued at $1,138,825 and previously 546,675 units valued at $1,193,792. In contrast, March closed with an average of 226,230 units valued at $542,563 for each security traded.

Junior Market index drifts down

Junior Market stocks recorded more decline at the close of trading on Thursday following falls on the previous three trading days and ended with a loss of 15.02 points to 2,922.18 and leaving the average PE ratio of the market at 13.7 times 2019 earnings.
At the close of trading, the number of stocks rising and falling was almost equal, with 16 rising and 15 falling with five remaining unchanged as investors traded in more securities than on Tuesday. Express Catering and Fosrich traded at an intraday low of $4.89 and $3.20, respectively.
Trading ended with an exchange of 36 securities resulting in 24,026,851 units valued at $52,414,301 passing through the exchange, compared to 5,212,490 units valued at $18,619,974 from 29 stocks on Tuesday.
Market activity ended with an average of 667,413 units at $1,455,953 for each security traded in contrast to 179,741 units for an average of $642,068 on Tuesday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 170,727 units and $489,633, previously 136,798 units valued at $423,623 for each security traded. In contrast, January closed with an average of 137,619 units valued at $521,935 for each security.
