Trading climbed sharply over Tuesday, resulting from an exchange of 24,707,539 units valued at $78,195,277, compared to 2,386,009 units valued at $16,626,218. Indies Pharma after trading 93 million units on Monday dominated trading on Wednesday with just over 23 million units.

Junior Market ends 2018 with strong gain

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Index rose by a strong 64.45 points to close at 3,246.84, a rise of 18.8 percent above the close of 2017 as 5 stocks gained over 100 percent and 4 others gained between 50 to 73 percent for the year.
The year’s performance although not spectacular was far better than the meagre 5.8 percent rise in 2017.

Lasco Manufacturing concluded trading 35 cents higher to $3.45, with the trading of 69,805 stock units, Main Event finished 10 cents down to $5.90, with an exchange of 10,332 units, Medical Disposables lost 20 cents to end at $6.50, with 957 shares trading. Paramount Trading ended trading 45 cents higher to close at $2.90, with an exchange of 12,901 shares, Stationery and Office lost 40 cents, trading 3,417 shares, to close at $8.10 and tTech dropped 60 cents to close $4.59 higher at $4.59, with 130 units changing hands.

Junior Market suffers losses – Monday

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange recorded a big fall in the Market Index on Monday by 31.03 points to close at 3,176.89 with the prices of 8 securities rising, 11 falling and 6 remaining unchanged.
Trading ended with 25 securities changing hands, resulting in an exchange of 1,192,642 units valued at $4,117,828, compared to 2,928,176 units valued at $13,658,144 on Friday, from 25 securities changing hands.
Trading ended with an average of 47,706 units for an average of $164,713 in contrast to 117,127 units for an average of $546,326 on Friday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 156,428 units at a value of $857,109, versus 164,307 units at a value of $907,282, previously.
