Slow start for JSE – Monday

ICI int -21-11-16 Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange is off to a slow start in early Monday morning activity with just a few securities being active with limited volume.
A total of 12 securities traded of which 5 advanced and 3 fell and resulting in a volume of just 351,677 shares changing hands carrying a value of a mere $1,089,793 compared with 753,463 shares changing hands with a value of $6,280,546 on Friday. The average number of shares traded amount to 29,306 units versus 26,909 units on Friday.
The leading volume trades in the market are, Cable & Wireless traded 223,321 shares at 79 cents and National Commercial Bank gained 50 cents in trading 10,475 units at $50.
At 10:45 am the all Jamaica Composite Index rose 537.67 points to 192,794.55, the Jamaica Stock Exchange Market Index climbed 480.78 points to 173,434.41, the Jamaica Stock Exchange combined index gained 431.69 points to close at 186,140.51 and the junior market index slipped 1.38 points to a new high of 2,462.72.
