Regency tops out with lost altitude

The shares of Regency Petroleum that were listed on the Junior Market on Thursday and jumped 75 percent to $1.75 on Friday, topped on Monday in heavy volume and closed down at $1.41, after accounting for 54 percent of stocks traded in a market that saw slippage in prices that weight down all market indices.
At the close of the market, the volume and the value of stocks traded just slipped below that on Friday.
At the close, the Combined Market Index dropped 744.44 points to 351,765.66, the All Jamaican Composite Index dropped 725.84 points to 379,557.67, the JSE Main Index dipped 107.55 points to 338,666.44, the Junior Market fell 37.46 points to 3,856.03 and the JSE US dollar market dipped 0.41 points to 230.98.
Trading ended, with 34,621,684 shares changing hands, for $119.8 million versus $120 million, with 35,469,567 shares traded in all markets on the previous trading day. The JSE USD market ended with the value of stocks traded amounting to US$7,737 from US$5,115 on Friday.
The market’s PE ratio ended at 22.2 based on 2021-22 earnings and 12.7 times those for 2022-23 at the close of trading.
