Trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Friday with 19 securities changing hands, resulting in an exchange of 2,279,940 units valued at $14,635,254 compared to 468,877 units valued at $2,858,513 on Thursday.
The climb in the volume and value traded is due to trading in nearly 17 million units of Eppley preference shares.
At the close of market activities, the prices of 6 advanced, 8 declined and 4 remained with the prices unchanged, based on the last price each traded at. The Junior Market Index declined by just 0.37 points to close week at 3,003.68.
Trading ended with an average of 119,997 units for an average of $770,277 in contrast to 29,305 units for an average of $178,657 on Thursday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 136,087 units valued at $624,758 and 137,160 units valued at $615,057, previously. In contrast, August closed with average of 234,437 units valued at $1,295,260 for each security traded.
Trading ended with the market sentiments looking mixed but with an improvement over the signals at the close on Thursday suggesting that market activity could be a bit better than for Friday. Friday’s trading activity, ended with 6 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and 4 with lower offers.

Knutsford Express settled at $14.50, with 2,900 shares changing hands, Lasco Distributors traded at $6.80, with 6,469 units, Lasco Financial concluded trading 7 cents higher at $4, with 11,014 stock units. Medical Disposables finished 50 cents higher at $5, with 1,100 shares. Main Event traded with a loss of 32 cents at $5.28, trading 87,488 shares, Stationery and Office closed with a loss of 1 cent at $4.84, with 37,210 stocks changing hands and Eppley 9.5% preference share, finished with a loss of 25 cents at $7 as 1,666,987 shares changed hands.
