Jamaica stocks is off to moderate start in trading on Tuesday morning after 80 minutes of the opening of market but the indices recorded modest gains with the market continuing to consolidate.
Securities trading over 100,000 units include Cable & Wireless that traded 200267 at $1.12, Derrimon Trading had 530,506 units trading at $3.05, Lasco Distributors with 143,689 shares at $7.10, National Commercial Bank having 179,342 shares changing hands at $42.
The all Jamaica Composite Index gained 389.78 points to 176,954.71, the Jamaica Stock Exchange Market Index gained 348.54 points to 159,270.75, the Jamaica Stock Exchange combined index climbed 325.73 point to close at 169,817.89 points andthe junior market index slipped 0.24 points to 2,152.28.
Trading at 10:50am resulted in 25 securities changing hands, accounting for a volume of 1,331,680 shares, with 8 securities rising and 8 falling. The average number of shares traded amounts to 53,267 units compared to an average of 110,630 units on Monday.
