The Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market enjoyed a modest bounce on Wednesday but the Junior Market and the JSE USD Market slipped at the close, the slippage was inadequate to prevent the Combined Market indices from closing 1,181.10 points higher at 357,060.31.
At the end of trading, the JSE Main Index rose 1,525.74 points to 343,681.10, the Junior Market Index dropped 26.95 points to 3,972.26, while the All Jamaica Composite Index shed 453.12 points to 389,396.40 and the JSE US dollar market dipped 2.60 points to end at 242.80.
Trading ended, with 31,805,998 shares changing hands, for $124.6 million, versus $145.33 million, with 21,069,831 shares traded in all markets on the previous day. The JSE USD market ended with the value of stocks traded amounting to US$1,384 from US$65,957 on Tuesday.
The market’s PE ratio ended at 23.8. Based on 2021-22 earnings and 12.6 times those for 2022-23 at the close of trading.
