The Jamaica dollar lost more ground against all the three major counter path currencies it trades against on Monday. The equivalent of US$54,993,668 was bought by dealers, compared with US$46,945,905 on Friday, while they sold the equivalent of US$59,279,907 versus US$41,528,759 previously.
In US dollar trading , dealers bought US$49,143,690 compared to US$44,372,877 on Friday. The buying rate for the US dollar climbed 8 cents to $119.06 and US$56,411,806 was sold versus US$40,477,427 on Friday, the selling rate rose 5 cents to $119.47. The Canadian dollar buying rate slipped 18 cents to end at $89.06, with dealers buying C$1,530,791 and selling C$810,546, at an average rate that rose 33 cents to $91.42
The rate for buying the British Pound gained $1.32 to $180.24 for the purchase of £2,770,653, while £1,319,350 was sold, at an average rate that climbed $2.39 to $182.59. At the end of trading, it took J$135.59 to purchase the Euro, with a rise of $1 from Friday’s rate, according to data from Bank of Jamaica, while dealers purchased the European common currency at J$133.07, for a gain of $1.23 from Friday’s rate. The US dollar equivalent of other currencies traded, amounts to US$510,322 being bought, while US$231,334 was sold.
Highs & Lows| The highest buying rate for the US dollar lost 5 cents on Monday to end at $119.70, 
the lowest buying rate ended unchanged at $97.95, the highest selling added 11 cents to close at $125.62 and the lowest selling rate dived $18.06 to end at $97.94. The highest buying rate for the Canadian dollar slipped $1.96 to $91.70, the lowest buying rate rose 41 cents to be at $73.04, the highest selling rate gained 27 cents to end at $94.33 and the lowest selling rate climbed 50 cents to $88. The highest buying rate for the British Pound, rose 50 cents to end at $183.20. The lowest buying rate climbed 37 cents to $147.28, the highest selling rate jumped $2.97 to $189.87 and the lowest selling rate lost 20 cents to close at $176.30.
