The US dollar market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed trading on Wednesday, with the market rising after trading 74 percent fewer shares than on Tuesday, resulting in slightly more stocks falling than rising, but the market index recorded a rise.
At the close of the market, trading ended with five securities changing hands compared to five on Tuesday and ended with the price of one stock rising, two declining and two remaining unchanged.
The JSE USD Equities Index gained 4.45 points to close at 191.20, and the average PE Ratio ended at 13.4 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Trading ended in 335,249 shares changing hands for US$42,287 versus 146,929 units at US$26,156 on Tuesday.
The average trade for the day amounts to 67,050 units changing hands at US$8,457, in contrast to an average of 29,386 shares at US$5,231 on Tuesday. Trading averaged 48,218 units for the month to date at US$6,844. By comparison, November trading averaged 51,134 units at US$4,516.
At the end of trading, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading for the market shows three stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and one with lower offers.
At the close of the market, First Rock Capital Investment closed at 9 US cents after crossing the market with 2,305 shares, Proven Investments advanced 1.88 cents to 25.88 US cents after trading 1,350 units. Sygnus Credit Investments carved out a loss of nine-tenths of a cent to close at 15.7 US cents with an exchange of 256,600 stock units and Transjamaican Highway lost 0.04 of a cent to 0.86 US cent after the swapping of 74,844 stock units.
In the preference segment, Eppley 5% preference share ended at US$1.02 with an exchange of 150 shares.
