Cable & Wireless corners 95% of JSE – Tuesday

Parent company of C&W Jamaica now owns over 91% of the shares.

Cable & Wireless accounted for just over 95 percent or 80 million units of the total volume traded on Tuesday, as the parent company prepared for the company to exit the Jamaica Stock Exchange on April 11.
Overall trading was much higher than on Monday as 84,503,992 units valued at $180,560,263 changed hands versus 5,325,114 units valued at $49,013,253 that was exchanged, on Monday.
The main market closed with 27 securities changing hands, 13 rose, 10 declined and 4 traded firm leading to the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index recovering 3,026.80 of the near 7,000 points lost on Monday to end at 322,429.21. The JSE Index regained 2,757.76 of the more than 6,000 points plunge on Monday to close at 293,769.46.
In market activity, Barita Investments closed at $9, with 188,546 shares, Berger Paints ended 17 cents higher at $17.73, with 9,009 stock units, Cable & Wireless concluded trading 20 cents higher at $1.45, with 80,371,757 units, Carreras finished 15 cents higher at $10.50, with 1,686,921 shares, Caribbean Cement settled with a loss of 2.37 cents at $35.53, with 3,100 shares. Ciboney Group ended trading 4 cents higher at $0.14, with 303,300 shares, Grace Kennedy traded 96 cents higher at $48.96, with 3,207 stock units, Jamaica Broilers finished trading with a loss of 49 cents at $20.01, with 64,399 units, Jamaica Producers closed 11 cents higher at $15.50, with 30,710 shares. Jamaica Stock Exchange ended 3 cents higher at $7, with 8,500 shares, JMMB Group concluded trading 21 cents higher at $26.21, with 100,691 shares, Kingston Wharves settled 2 cents higher at $38.52, with 100 units, Mayberry Investments ended trading with a loss of 42 cents at $6, with 15,000 shares. NCB Financial Group traded with a loss of 49 cents at $97.51, with 2,411 shares, 1834 Investments finished trading at $1.19, with 8,341 shares, PanJam Investment ended with a loss of 5 cents at $42.95, with 7,280 units, Portland JSX concluded trading at $8.50, with 152,700 shares. Pulse Investments finished 35 cents higher at $1.95, with 34,000 shares, Radio Jamaica settled 1 cent higher at $1.10, with 214,060 shares, Sagicor Group ended trading with a loss of 15 cents at $37.36, with 67,657 stock units, Sagicor Real Estate Fund ended trading with a loss of 10 cents at $15.20, with 32,190 shares, Scotia Group finished trading with a loss of 1.50 cents at $50.50, with 544,473 shares. Seprod closed at $35.50, with 29,572 shares, Supreme Ventures concluded trading with a loss of 4 cents at $11.85, with 6,600 stock units, Victoria Mutual Investments finished 12 cents higher at $4.17, with 19,427 units and Wisynco Group settled 35 cents higher at $10.35, with 499,541 shares trading. In the main market preference segment, Jamaica Money Market 7.5% traded with a loss of 4 cents at $1.95, with 100,500 stock units changing hands.
