All JSE markets drop following 2 days of gains

After two consecutive days of gains, the Jamaica Stock Exchange dropped sharply on Tuesday, following a sharp rise in the value of stocks trading as the volume increased over that on Monday.
Trading ended after the JSE Combined Market Index dived 2,589.09 points to 352,259.36. The All Jamaican Composite Index plunged 6,576.29 points to 373,543.17, the JSE Main Index dropped 5,785.97 points to 334,626.31, as the Junior Market Index shed 31.39 points to finish at 3,751.82 and the JSE USD Market Index dropped 11.00 points to conclude trading at 225.30.
Shares in the preference segment of the Main Market that are not included in the TOP10 graphs ended with Jamaica Public Service 7% dropping $20 to $109 and 138 Student Living preference share climbed $9.50 and ended at $104.50.
At the close, investors exchanged 33,239,260 shares in all three markets, up from 28,430,771 units on Monday, with the value of stocks trading amounting to $381.26 million compared with $58.15 million on Monday. Trading on the JSE USD market resulted in investors exchanging just 41,840 shares for US$ 1,885 down from 194,605 units at US$3,511 on Monday.
The market’s PE ratio ended at 18.9 on 2022-23 earnings and 12.4 times those for 2023-24 at the close of trading.
