Trading value drops on JSE USD Market

The Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market closed on Tuesday, with the volume of stocks traded rising 32 percent with a 73 percent lower value than on Monday, resulting in an exchange of three securities, compared to four on Monday with prices of one rising, one declining and one ending unchanged.
The market closed with an exchange of 61,115 shares for US$1,543 compared to 46,461 units at US$5,650 on Monday.
Trading averaged 20,372 shares at US$514 compared to 11,615 stocks at US$1,412 on Monday, with a month to date average of 174,350 shares at US$5,102 compared with 178,834 units at US$5,236 on the previous day and August that ended with an average of 297,880 stocks for US$8,245.
The US Denominated Equities Index declined 0.05 points to close trading at 231.99.
The PE Ratio, one of the best known measures used to determine appropriate stock values, averages 7.4. The PE ratio is calculated based on last traded prices divided by projected earnings, computed by ICInsider.com for companies with financial year ending around August 2025.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows three stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and two with lower offers.
At the close, Proven Investments ended at 10 US cents with 4,870 changing hands, Sterling Investments gained 0.04 of a cent to end at 1.52 US cents in trading 23,057 units and Transjamaican Highway fell 0.02 of a cent to end at 2.15 US cents after an exchange of 33,188 shares.
