Trading jumps on Junior Market – Friday

CPJ continues to trade decent volumes in the low $3 level.

Trading activity picked on the Junior Market on Friday with 3,652,602 units valued $15,524,040 passing through the market, compared to 421,996 units valued $3,141,010 on Thursday, resulting from trading in 22 securities versus 17 on Thursday.
The main trades contributing to the increased volume are Caribbean Producers that has been trading in large volumes with 2.47 million units changing hands on Friday followed by Jamaican Teas with just over 600,000 units.
At the close of the market 8 stocks rose and 7 declined, leading to the market index rising 10.86 points to 3,189.58, while 3 stocks had bids higher than their last sale prices and 3 closed with lower offers.
The Junior Market ended trading with an average of 166,027 units for an average value of $705,638 compared to 24,823 units for an average value of $184,765 on the previous trading day. The average volume and value for the month to date rose to 578,420 units valued at $2,133,380 compared with 615,911 units valued at $2,263,174, previously, in contrast, May closed with averages of just 89,339 units at $596,722.
At the close of the market, Blue Power dropped $1.94 and closed at $54.56 with 5,660 units changing hands, Cargo Handlers closed at $16 with just 6,068 shares trading, Caribbean Cream traded 21,852 units to end at $7.40, Caribbean Flavours gained $1.56 in trading 158,510 units to end at $12.55. A trade of more than 9 million units at $12.75 towards the close of trading was cancelled as the price exceeded the level permissible by the close of trading. Caribbean Producers traded a relatively large quantity of 2,473,085 units, but lost 17 cents to end at $3.03, C2W Music had 44,500 units changing hands to close at 45 cents, Dolphin Cove dropped $1 to end at $18 with 6,933 shares changing hands, Eppley had 1,200 units changing hands with a 1 cent gain to a 52 weeks’ closing high of $12.01, General Accident gained 50 cents and closed trading with 6,300 shares at $2.80, Honey Bun had 400 shares changing hands to close 35 cents down at $6.50, Jamaican Teas traded 604,000 shares and rose 5 cents to end at $4.30, Jetcon Corporation ended at $14.88 with 69,219 shares trading, Knutsford Express traded 23,725 shares to end at $16 with a loss of 30 cents, Lasco Distributors added 15 cents and ended trading 55,236 units at $7.15, Lasco Financial gained 2 cents with a mere 232 shares changing hands to end at $4.02, Lasco Manufacturing shed 11 cents to end at $4.54 trading 56,925 shares. Main Event dropped 50 cents and ended trading with 40,962 shares at $5.50. Medical Disposables ended at $6 after jumping $1 with 24,940 units changing hands, Paramount Trading ended with 47,032 shares changing hands at $3.02 and tTech ended with 5,823 units trading with the price rising 25 cents, to $8.55.
