Derrimon dominates on Friday

Trading closed Friday, with stocks just holding on to gains at the last moment of trading, as the volume and value of stocks traded climbed 85 percent and 43 percent respectively, as Derrimon Trading dominated the Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market with more than half the shares traded.
At the close, 34 securities traded, down from 38 on Thursday, with prices of 14 rising, 10 declining and 10 remaining unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index rose 0.90 points to 2,924.15. The PE Ratio averaged 16.5 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Market activity ended with 14,753,485 shares trading for $42,656,041 up from 7,988,198 units at $29,746,400 on Thursday. Derrimon Trading dominated with 50.7 percent of total volume, in exchanging 7.48 million shares followed by Limners and Bards with 20.4 percent or 3.01 million units and Caribbean Cream 9.5 percent with 1.40 million units.
Trading averaged 433,926 units at $1,254,589, in contrast to 210,216 at $782,800 on Thursday. The month to date averaged 253,478 units at $733,977, up from 241,183 units at $698,505 on Thursday. February averaged 365,365 units at $881,118.

Dolphin Cove fell 70 cents to $8.45 in trading 30 units, Everything Fresh gained 6 cents to end at 95 cents after exchanging 243,955 stocks. Fontana lost 5 cents at $5.90 trading 51,962 stock units, General Accident declined 20 cents to $5.50 with 52,000 shares crossing the market, iCreate ended 6 cents higher at 82 cents with the swapping of 21,150 units. Indies Pharma lost 19 cents to finish at $3.30 with 427,862 stock units changing hands, ISP Finance jumped $3.89 to $23.89 with an exchange of 50 shares, Lasco Distributors gained 20 cents to a 52 weeks’ high of $4.08 after transferring 179,105 stocks. Lasco Financial rose 8 cents to $2.59, trading 233,500 shares, Lasco Manufacturing lost 6 cents at $4.34 trading 121,330 units, Limners and Bards slipped 5 cents to $2.80 after an exchange of 3,012,301 stock units and Main Event shed 14 cents to close at $3.06 with the swapping of 10,952 units.
In the preference segment, CAC 2000 9.5% preference share gained 9 cents in closing at $1.20 trading 150,239 stock units.

Juniors inch higher on increased volume

Jamaican Teas dominated trading with 8,038,082 stocks with the price rising 19 cents to $3.25, helping the Junior Market break the three-day losing streak, with the index gaining 11.07 points to close at 2,904.54 on Wednesday after trading 58 percent more shares, with a 184 percent increase in the value compared to Tuesday.

In the end, 33 securities traded, up from 31 on Tuesday, with prices of 13 rising, nine declining and 11 remaining unchanged.
The average PE Ratio ended at 16.5 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with 13,020,776 shares trading for $40,054,022, up from 8,262,259 units at $21,754,655 on Tuesday.
Jamaican Teas led with 61.7 percent of total volume after exchanging 8.04 million shares, followed by Mailpac Group with 26.3 percent for 3.42 million units and Tropical Battery with 2.3 percent after a transfer of 305,026 units.

Junior Market at 13-month high up 11.3% YTD

 

The Junior Market Index rose sharply on Thursday to the highest close in over 13 months since the market index ended at 2,942.84 on February 24, last year. The market index grew appreciably at the close, gaining 46.29 points to close at 2,941.25, surpassing the elusive 2,900 mark for the seventh time since the last week of February to be up 11.3 percent year to date.
A total of 36 securities traded against 35 on Wednesday and ended with 20 rising, eight declining and eight remaining unchanged. The average PE Ratio ended at 16.7 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Investors traded 5,513,842 shares for $19,693,968 from 6,442,104 units at $19,769,570 Wednesday.  Lasco Manufacturing led trading with 36.7 percent of total volume in exchanging 2.02 million shares, followed by Lumber Depot with 18.1 percent in trading 999,321 units and Jamaican Teas 9.6 percent with a transfer of 531,015 units.

The momentum gained Wednesday was partially lost at the close of trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Thursday, with the market index declining 14.73 points to 2,872.60 after the volume changing hands grew by 90 percent, with 83 percent more money chased stocks over Wednesday’s levels.

Junior Market rebounds on Wednesday

Stocks rebounded sharply in trading on Wednesday, wiping out 72 percent of Tuesday’s big loss in the Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market index putting it in close touch of the 2,900 points level again.
Trading ended with 38 securities changing hands down from 40 on Tuesday with the prices of 15 stocks rising, 15 declining and eight closing unchanged.
The Junior Market Index jumped 34.13 points to 2,887.33. The average PE Ratio ended at 16.4 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Investors exchanged 37 percent fewer shares at 45 percent less value than on Tuesday, resulting from trading of 5,551,072 shares for $15,784,558, down from 8,845,580 units at $27,670,299 on Tuesday.

Caribbean Flavours shed 21 cents to finish at $1.90, with 77,359 units crossing the market, Caribbean Producers ended 44 cents lower at $2.95 in an exchange of 165,544 stocks. Consolidated Bakeries fell 20 cents to $1.31 in trading 10,100 stock units, Derrimon Trading lost 7 cents to close at $2.51 after a transferring of 2,724,910 units, Elite Diagnostics gained 20 cents to finish at $3, with an exchange of 98,020 shares.  Everything Fresh gained 9 cents to end at a 52 weeks’ high of $1.21, trading 461,735 stock units, Fosrich fell 74 cents to $4.65 in an exchange of 84,486 shares, General Accident declined 44 cents to $5.50 with the swapping of 15,900 units. Honey Bun lost 7 cents to end at $5.12, with 9,230 units crossing the market, Indies Pharma rose 39 cents to $3.40 with the swapping of 664,045 shares, ISP Finance closed 29 cents lower at $25 trading 1,500 units. Lasco Distributors shed 26 cents to $3.61 after an exchange of 17,214 units, Lasco Financial ended 14 cents lower at $2.51, with 314,948 stock units crossing the exchange. Lasco Manufacturing lost 28 cents to $4.33, finishing with 118,342 units changing hands, Medical Disposables added 20 cents to close at $4.50, with an exchange of 4,700 stock units, Paramount Trading rose 18 cents to $1.50, with the swapping of 2,242 units and SSL Venture gained 5 cents to end at 70 cents trading 78,600 shares.

Caribbean Producers shock move

Caribbean Producers jumped sharply in trading on Monday in a surprise move, with the price hitting $3.20, a level not seen since mid-April last year as activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market remained at a high level with all but four stocks trading, with 29 percent fewer shares at 30 percent less value than on Friday.

Trading ended with 40 securities changing hands, up from 35 on Friday with 12 rising, 15 declining and 13 remaining unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index lost 27.24 points to settle at 2,871.89. The average PE Ratio ends at 15.3 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Traders exchanged 6,033,662 shares for $17,830,831 down from 8,506,807 units at $25,313,437 on Friday. Derrimon Trading led with 19.3 percent of the volume, after an exchange of 1.17 million shares, followed by Mailpac Group with 15.5 percent of the day’s trade for 932,663 stocks and Lumber Depot with 14.7 percent for 884,021 units.
Trading averaged 150,842 units at $445,771 in contrast to 243,052 at $723,241 on Friday. Trading month to date averaged 379,631 units at $925,038, down from 397,540 units at $962,554 on Friday. Trading in January averaged 232,651 units at $569,885 trading.

Caribbean Producers rose 53 cents to end at $3.20, with 752,023 shares crossing the market, Consolidated Bakeries picked up 5 cents in closing at $1.50, with 850 stocks changing hands, Dolphin Cove shed 30 cents to $7.70, with 1,162 stock units clearing the market. Everything Fresh lost 7 cents to end at 73 cents, with an exchange of 123,189 stocks, Express Catering dropped 35 cents to $3.30, with 1,100 units clearing the market, General Accident rose 21 cents to $5.51 trading 9,290 stock units, Jamaican Teas gained 9 cents to finish at $3.46 after a transfer of 585,809 shares. Jetcon Corporation lost 11 cents to end at 66 cents in trading 18,899 units, Lasco Distributors slipped 8 cents to $3.60, with 36,305 stock units changing hands, Mailpac Group lost 11 cents to close at $3.64 with 932,663 shares clearing the market, Main Event rose 41 cents to $3.45 in switching ownership of 3,133 units. Medical Disposables shed 25 cents in ending at $4.20, with 103,359 stock units crossing the market, Paramount Trading dipped 21 cents to $1.29 trading 8,970 stocks and tTech advanced 59 cents to $4.70, trading 3,369 shares.
