JSE USD market closes up

The US dollar market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed trading on Thursday, with the market rising after investors traded 13 percent more shares than on Wednesday, resulting in an even number of stocks rising and falling. 
At the close of the market, trading ended with seven securities changing hands compared to five on  Wednesday and ended with the prices of two stocks rising, two declining and three remaining unchanged.
The JSE USD Equities Index rose 5.41 points to settle at 191.28, with the average PE Ratio ending at 13.1 based on IC Insider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 373,392 shares, accounting for US$26,297  compared to 331,320 units at US$9,823 on Wednesday.
The average trade for the day amounted to 53,342 units changing hands at  US$3,757, in contrast to an average of 66,264 shares for US$1,965  on Wednesday. Trading ended, with an average of 68,740  units for the month to date at US$3,803 in contrast to 70,567  units at US$3,809. By comparison, July ended with an average of 133,150 units for US$18,282.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading for the market shows two stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and one with a lower offer.
At the close of the market, First Rock Capital Investment lost four-tenths of a cent to close at 8.5 US cents in clearing the market, with 297 stocks, Proven Investments gained 1.3 US cents to end at 24.85 US cents, with 106 stocks changing hands, Sterling Investments ended at 2 US cents and clearing the market with 10,000 stocks. Sygnus Credit Investments ended at 14.99 US cents from 15 US cents, with 7,000 shares changing hands and Transjamaican Highway gained 0.13 of a cent to at 0.97 US cent, with investors swapping 344,744 stocks.
In the preference segment of the market, JMMB Group 5.75% closed at US$2.05 with investors switching ownership of 10,145 shares and JMMB Group 6% ended at US$1 in trading 1,100 stock units.
