The Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange ended trading on Wednesday as the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 1,227.13 points to 324,208.73 and the JSE Index advanced by 1,118.05 points to 295,390.81 with 5 stocks rising to 1 falling.
Trading on Wednesday closed with 25 securities changing hands, leading to 15 advancing, 3 declining and 6 trading firm, in the main and US dollar markets. Only a few securities closed with sizable price changes as Grace Kennedy jumped $6.40 to $52 and Palace Amusement leapt $540 to close at $1,100 and NCB Financial Group rose $1.29 to $99.49.
Main market activity ended with 9,164,384 units valued at $151,125,249 changing hands, versus 9,664,260 units valued at over $708,128,861 on Tuesday.
Jamaica Producers Group closed with 3,598,442 units and accounted for 39.27 percent shares traded in the main market, followed by Wisynco Group with 2,127,214 units and 23.21 percent of traded shares and Carreras with 1,243,617 units, 13.57 percent of trades.
Trading results in an average of 366,575 shares valued at $6,045,010 for each security traded, compared to 402,678 shares valued at $29,505,369 on Tuesday. For the month to date an average of 684,251 units with an average value at 11,503,301 traded, compared to 715,033 units with an average value at $12,094,025 traded on the previous trading day. In contrast, February closed with average of 213,336 units valued at $3,392,475 for each security traded.
There was no trading in the US dollar market on Wednesday.
