The junior market index inched up 2.11 points to end at 2,409.79 on Wednesday as the prices of 11 stocks rose and 3 declined with 14 securities trading, the same number as on Tuesday. The rise brought the gain for the junior market index for the year to date to 35 percent.
The volume of stocks traded rising on Wednesday with an increase by 765 percent from Tuesday’s level and ending with 1,864,578 units changing hands, valued at $7,108,043, up 651 percent from $946,789 on Tuesday.

Caribbean Flavours traded 17,257 units to end at $8.50 with a gain of 10 cents, Caribbean Producers rose 2 cents in trading 3,000 units at $3.50, Consolidated Bakeries rose 10 cents in trading 7,000 shares to close at $2.40, Jamaican Teas traded 17,600 shares to close at $4, with a gain of 1 cent. Jetcon Corporation rose 15 cents and closed with 383,452 units changing hands at $5.05,ICI Jm trds 23-11-16 Lasco Distributors fell 29 cents with 258,830 shares changing hands, to close at $6.61, Lasco Financial gained 7 cents and ended with 20,000 shares changing hands at $3.15. Lasco Manufacturing rose 9 cents and closed at $4.80 with 55,087 shares changing hands, Medical Disposables rose 5 cents and ended with 19,500 units changing hands to close at $4.30, Paramount Trading lost 50 cents with 29,100 units changing hands to close at $3 and Derrimon Trading preference share, rose 24 cents ending with 1,033,000 units changing hands at a 52 weeks’ high of $2.49.
