Access Financial led 23 stocks rising, compared to a decline of nine on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market on Thursday and leaving six unchanged following trading in 38 securities compared with 40 on Wednesday, with a 20 percent decline in the volume of stocks traded, valued at 59 percent more than on Wednesday.
The market closed with trading of 7,748,170 shares for $9,778,916 compared with 9,637,234 units at $6,156,203 on Wednesday.
Trading averaged 203,899 shares at $257,340 compared with 240,931 stock units at $153,905 on Wednesday, with the month to date, averaging 195,215 units at $273,516 in line with 194,704 stock units at $274,467 on the previous day, compared to April with an average of 199,273 shares at $488,496.
Jetcon Corporation led trading with 3.0 million shares for 38.7 percent of total volume, followed by Dolla Financial, with 1.31 million stock units for 16.8 percent of the day’s trade and MFS Capital Partners with 1.0 million units for 12.9 percent of the day’s volume.
At the close of trading, the Junior Market Index advanced 29.55 points to finish at 3,427.08. The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows six stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and six with lower offers.
The Junior Market ended with an average PE Ratio of 13.5. The PE is computed using the last traded prices of stocks with projected earnings computed by ICInsider.com for financial years ending around August 2025.
At the close, Access Financial climbed $1.99 to end at $16.99 with a transfer of 5,826 shares, AMG Packaging rose 13 cents in closing at $2.62, with 1,081 stocks crossing the exchange, Derrimon Trading advanced 6 cents to $1.96 with traders dealing in 126,624 shares. Elite Diagnostic lost 6 cents to close at $1.44 in an exchange of 2,098 stocks, Everything Fresh dipped 16 cents and closed at $2.20 after 36,244 units changed hands, Fontana popped 48 cents to finish at $9.05, with 4,994 shares clearing the market. Future Energy increased 8 cents and ended at $3.14 as investors exchanged 61,323 stocks, Honey Bun gained 39 cents to close at $8.39 in switching ownership of 14,454 units, Indies Pharma rallied 11 cents to close at $3.86 with investors trading 4,000 stock units. Knutsford Express fell $1 to finish at $12 with an exchange of 29,100 shares, Mailpac Group rose 12 cents to end at $2.52, with 70,070 stock units crossing the market, MFS Capital Partners slipped 10 cents in closing at 50 cents with investors trading 1,000,976 stocks. Omni Industries gained 7 cents to end at 90 cents with 722 units changing hands and Spur Tree Spices popped 7 cents to end at $1.06 after an exchange of 177,176 shares.
