Trading jumps on T&T Stock Exchange 


Trading activity surged on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Wednesday, with the volume of stocks traded rising 211 percent, valued 196 percent more than on Tuesday. CIBC Caribbean Bank controlled 45 percent shares traded at a value of $1,475,945. At the close of trading 17 securities were exchanged, down from 25 on Tuesday and ending with prices of three stocks rising, 10 declining and four ending firm.

The market closed with trading of 425,348 shares for $2,735,601, in climbing from just 136,657 stock units at $924,562 on Tuesday.
An average of 25,020 shares were traded at $160,918, after rising from 5,466 units at $36,982 on Tuesday, with trading month to date averaging 15,270 shares at $127,288 well in line with 14,759 units at $125,523 on the previous day, but well below an average for May of 18,019 shares at $397,491.
The Composite Index dipped 3.10 points to close at 988.20, the All T&T Index dropped 5.97 points to 1,431.80, the SME Index remained at 86.92 and the Cross-Listed Index ended unchanged at 71.84.

At the close of trading, Angostura Holdings fell 30 cents to close at a 52 weeks low of $10.10 after a transfer of 4,588 shares, Ansa McAl slipped $1 to $47 with 1,528 stock units crossing the exchange, CIBC Caribbean Bank lost 5 cents to close at $7.65 with trading of 192,934 shares. Endeavour Holdings saw trading in three shares at $15.50, First Citizens Group stopped at $38.01 with 3,628 stocks crossing the market, GraceKennedy closed at $3.50 with investors swapping 9 shares. Guardian Holdings ended at $16 in switching ownership of 1,807 stock units, JMMB Group climbed 1 cent to 80 cents, after trading of 6,013 stocks, Massy Holdings dropped 5 cents to end at a 52 weeks low of $3.40 as investors exchanged 2,829 units. National Enterprises shed 20 cents to end at $4.80 with 2,803 stocks passing through the market, One Caribbean Media declined 20 cents to finish at $2 with an exchange of 6,913 shares, Point Lisas skidded 10 cents to close at $6.90 with 18 stock units clearing the market. Republic Financial dipped 25 cents to $108.25 in trading 660 units, Trinidad & Tobago NGL lost 23 cents to finish at $10.25 with 22,056 stocks changing hands, Trinidad Cement rose 1 cent and ended at $1.89 after a transfer of 2,515 units. Unilever Caribbean gained 55 cents to close at $15.50 with 9,762 shares crossing the market and West Indian Tobacco slipped 2 cents to $2.85 in an exchange of 167,282 stock units.
