Trading jumps on JSE Junior Market


The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Wednesday, with the volume of stocks traded rising 21 percent, with 12 percent more value than on Tuesday, with Kintyre Holdings holding on to the volume leader’s position after trading 17.57 million shares. The Junior Market Index slipped after trading in 45 securities, up from 43 on Tuesday and ending, with prices of 15 advancing, 17 declining and 13 closing unchanged.

The market closed with trading of 22,552,332 shares for $11,669,747, compared with 18,569,665 units at $10,390,828 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 501,163 shares at $259,328, after jumping from 431,853 stock units at $241,647 on Tuesday, with the month to date, averaging 1,795,443 units at $1,876,440down from 1,875,118 stock units at $1,975,988 on the previous day and well above May, with an average of only 644,187 shares at $540,889.
Kintyre Holdings led trading with 17.57 million shares for 77.9 percent of total volume, followed by Woodcats International with 1.10 million units for 4.9 percent of the day’s trade and One Great Studio with 651,528 stocks for 2.9 percent of the volume traded.
At the close of trading, the Junior Market Index shed 26.87 points to close at 3,015.88. The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows two stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and two with lower offers.
The Junior Market ended trading with an average PE Ratio of 12.5. ICInsider.com compiles PE ratios, derived by dividing the last traded price of a stock by the earnings per share for companies with fiscal year ending around August 2026.
At the close of trading, Access Financial slipped 5 cents to finish at $17.70 with 340 shares crossing the market, Atlantic Hardware rose 6 cents to $1.68 as investors traded 272,175 stocks, Blue Power fell 15 cents to $3.42 in switching ownership of 22,659 shares. Cargo Handlers dropped $3.35 to $16.15 after an exchange of 5,796 units, Caribbean Cream lost 32 cents and ended at 95 cents after closing with an exchange of 38,803 stocks, Caribbean Flavours climbed 7 cents to close at $1.22 with 3,667 shares changing hands. Dolla Financial dropped 13 cents to $2.80 after an exchange of 191,229 stock units, Fosrich rose 6 cents to close at $1.66 in trading 423,797 shares, GWest Corporation rallied 5 cents to end at 60 cents after a transfer of 22,708 stocks. Honey Bun shed 10 cents to $5.90 with 34,719 shares crossing the market, Image Plus popped 19 cents and ended at 79 cents in an exchange of 37,093 stocks, Iron Rock Insurance advanced 18 cents to $2.38 with 1,884 units clearing the market. Jamaican Teas gained 7 cents and ended at $2.25 with a transfer of 64,000 stock units, Jetcon Corporation declined by 7 cents to $2.68 after trading of 117,196 shares and Medical Disposables rose 10 cents to finish at $1 with an exchange of 508 units.
