Trading drops on T&T Stock Exchange


Trading dropped on the final day of trading for July and remained lower than at the close of the preceding month on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Friday. The volume traded slipped by 9 percent, with a 56 percent lower value than on Thursday, following an exchange of 22 securities, up from 19 on Thursday and ending with prices of eight stocks rising, five declining and nine ended firm.

The market closed with trading of 110,029 shares valued $794,642 compared to 121,573 stock units at $1,788,594 on Thursday.
An average of 5,001 shares were traded at $36,120, after sliding from 6,399 units at $94,137 on Thursday, with trading month to date averaging 11,573 shares at $105,485 down from 11,888 units at $108,810 on the previous day and lower than the average of 14,083 shares with an average of $118,753 for June.
The Composite Index popped 1.05 points to close at 1,008.69, the All T&T Index fell 2.13 points to 1,435.95, the SME Index remained at 76.60 and the Cross-Listed Index rallied 0.64 points to end at 77.28.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows one stock ended with a bid higher than the last selling price and two with lower offers.
At the close of trading, Agostini dropped 70 cents to close at a 52 weeks low of $56.75, with an exchange of 139 units, Angostura Holdings climbed 5 cents to $10.80 after a transfer of 9 stocks, Ansa McAl remained at $45 with 77 shares crossing the market. AS Bryden increased 11 cents to finish at $1.50 after an exchange of 29 stock units, CIBC Caribbean Bank ended at $7.55 with investors trading 242 shares, Eric Solis Marketing remained at $4.17 following an exchange of 911 stocks. First Citizens Group ended at $39.25 with 1,003 units changing hands, GraceKennedy fell 9 cents to end at $3.91 with a transfer of 1,128 stocks, Guardian Holdings ended at $16.22 with 1,515 shares switching owners. JMMB Group ended at 85 cents with investors dealing in 7,200 stock units, Massy Holdings remained at $3.50 with 12,882 units crossing the exchange, National Enterprises advanced 10 cents to finish at $4.70 with investors trading 5,776 stocks. National Flour Mills skidded 6 cents to $1.53 with an exchange of 4,001 units, NCB Financial ended at $3.20 with 51,410 shares crossing the market, Point Lisas remained at $7 after trading of 631 stock units. Republic Financial rose $1.15 to end at $110, with a transfer of 2,027 stocks, Scotiabank ended at $45.25 as investors traded 2,750 units, Trinidad & Tobago NGL fell 1 cent and ended at $10.19 in with a transfer of 7,204 stocks. Trinidad Cement rallied 1 cent to $1.80 with 9,001 shares passing through the exchange, Unilever Caribbean shed 17 cents and ended at $14.80 in an exchange of 1,144 stock units, West Indian Tobacco gained 5 cents to finish at $4.20 after trading of 925 shares and West Indian Traders Ltd settled at a record high of $2.14 with a transfer of 25 shares.
