Trading drops on JSE Junior Market


Trading ended on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market Thursday, with the volume of stocks traded declining 36 percent and the value down 53 percent from Wednesday, following trading in 41 securities, compared with 40 on Wednesday and ending with 13 rising, 17 declining and 11 closing unchanged.

The market closed with trading of 5,462,459 shares for $8,266,954, down from 8,524,187 stock units at $17,475,935 on Wednesday.
Trading averaged 133,231 shares at $201,633, well below 213,105 shares valued at $436,898 on the preceding day. Trading month to date, averages 822,380 units at $1,524,663, down from 958,221 stock units at $1,785,453 on the previous day and greater than an average of 324,023 shares at $544,060 for September.
RA Williams led trading with 1.27 million shares for 23.2 percent of total volume, followed by Jamaican Teas with 1.14 million units for 20.9 percent of the day’s trade and Express Catering with 421,980 stocks for 7.7 percent of the volume traded.
At the close of trading, the Junior Market Index slipped 25.68 points to end at 3,085.34. The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows four stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and six with lower offers.
The Junior Market ended trading with an average PE Ratio of 11.6. ICInsider.com computes the PE ratios that are derived by dividing the last traded stock price by earnings per share for companies with the fiscal year ending around August 2027.
At the close, Access Financial shed $2.29 and closed at $17.66 after an exchange of 238 units, AMG Packaging fell 14 cents to $1.71 with investors trading 718 stocks, Blue Power skidded by 26 cents and ended at $3.23 after trading of 100 shares. Caribbean Cream advanced 6 cents to a 52 weeks high of $3.45 with an  exchange of 75,409 stock units, Dolla Financial gained 5 cents and ended at $3.78 after 148,311 shares were exchanged, Dolphin Cove fell 6 cents to $10.12 as after an exchange of 1,122 units. Elite Diagnostic slipped 6 cents to $1.78, after 149,251 stocks passed through the market, Express Catering climbed 47 cents to close at $3 with an exchange of 421,980 stock units, Fontana dipped 8 cents to $6.10, with 34,058 shares changing hands. Future Energy dropped 6 cents in closing at $3.68, with investors trading 35,866 stock units, Honey Bun increased 56 cents to finish at $7.66 following an exchange of 6,751 units, ISP Finance declined 88 cents and ended at $8, with a transfer of a mere 2 stocks. Jetcon Corporation rose 15 cents to $4.65 after 57,768 shares crossed the exchange, Knutsford Express lost 70 cents to close at $7.78 in trading 134 units, Mailpac Group rallied 12 cents to close at $2.32 after a transfer of 1,093 stocks. One Great Studio declined 5 cents to end at 52 cents, with investors dealing in 149,553 stock units, ONE on ONE Educational gained 9 cents and ended at 80 cents in an exchange of 134,003 shares and Stationery and Office Supplies rose 18 cents to finish at $1.61, with an exchange of 49,481 stock units.
