Trading dipped on the T&T Stock Exchange


Winning and declining stocks were equally matched at the close of trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Monday, following trading in 22 securities similar to Friday and ending with prices of seven stocks rising, seven declining and eight ending firm. The volume and value of stocks traded slipped 29 percent, and 42 percent, respectively, from Friday.

The market closed with trading of 260,956 shares worth $1,707,680, after sliding from 369,268 stock units at $2,953,376 on Friday.
Trading ended with an average of 11,862 shares at $77,622, after declining from 16,785 units worth $134,244 on Friday. Trading for the month to date ended with an average of 10,007 shares valued at $84,784 compared with 9,629 units at $86,240 on the previous day and an average for July of 11,573 shares at $105,485.
The Composite Index slipped 1.61 points to finish at 1,004.75, the All T&T Index lost 0.39 points to end at 1,432.64, the SME Index dipped 3.61 points to settle at 71.72 and the Cross-Listed Index declined 0.42 points to 76.62.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows six stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and two with lower offers.
At the close of trading, Angostura Holdings fell 15 cents in closing at $10.65 with a transfer of 595 units, Ansa McAl ended at $46 with 2 stocks changing hands, Ansa Merchant Bank remained at $28.30 in an exchange of 22 shares. AS Bryden ended at $1.50 with investors exchanging 101 stock units, CIBC Caribbean Bank shed 5 cents to settle at $7.50 after a transfer of 900 shares, Endeavour Holdings lost 25 cents to end at $12.75 with trading of 2,347 stocks. Eric Solis Marketing remained at $4.17 after trading of 231 units, First Citizens Group increased $1.35 to $39 with 4,563 stocks clearing the market, GraceKennedy remained at $3.91 following trading of 46,200 shares. Guardian Holdings ended at $16.31 with investors swapping 98 shares, JMMB Group skidded 5 cents to end at a 52 weeks low of 76 cents after trading in 4,770 stocks, Massy Holdings advanced 2 cents to close at $3.52 with a transfer of 157,206 stock units. Medcorp declined $5.50 to $38 with 100 shares passing through the market, National Enterprises ended at $4.35 with an exchange of 20,822 stocks, National Flour Mills dropped 5 cents to $1.50 with 4,400 units crossing the market. Point Lisas ended at $7 as investors exchanged 3,827 stock units, Republic Financial rose 18 cents to finish at $110 in switching ownership of 4,271 shares, Scotiabank rallied 29 cents to $45.49 after an exchange of 1,577 stocks. Trinidad & Tobago NGL gained 29 cents to $10.49 with investors dealing in 4,256 units, Trinidad Cement remained at $1.80 in an exchange of 1,121 stock units, Unilever Caribbean dipped 15 cents to close at $14.79 with investors swapping 2,287 shares and West Indian Tobacco climbed 4 cents to finish at $4.25 with 1,260 stocks crossing the market.
