Junior Market dips ahead of month-end

Trading on the Junior Market ended with the market index shedding 16.35 points top of the 31 points lost on Friday to close at 2,567.94 ahead of the mid-year close on Tuesday.
Market activity and resulted in 33 securities changing hands, up from 31 on Friday, with investors pushing the prices of 13 stocks up and 14 down, leaving prices of six unchanged. The average PE Ratio of the Junior Market ended at 9.9 based on IC Insider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 13,689,006 shares accounting for 25,143,842 compared to 5,923,1 33 units at 14,437,994 on Friday. Lumber Depot led trading with 10.12 million shares for 74 percent of total volume, followed by Fontana with 1.2 million units for 9 percent of the day’s trade and Mailpac Group with 516,217 units for 3.8 percent market share.
The average trade for the ended at 414,818 units at 761,935 in contrast to an average of 191,069 valued at 465,742 on Friday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 250,116 units valued at $6,38,843 in contrast to 253,214 units at 624,575. In contrast, May closed with an average of 150,274 units for $491,077 for each security.

Caribbean Cream rose 23 cents to end at $2.70 with a trade of 400 units, Caribbean Flavours shed 20 cents to settle at $11.50 in exchanging 252,280 shares, Caribbean Producers gained 6 cents while closing at $2.40 trading 43,305 stock units. Consolidated Bakeries dropped 19 cents to $1.51 swapping 35,470 shares, Elite Diagnostic eased by 9 cents to settle at $3.91 in trading 20,300 units, Everything Fresh shed 1 cent to close at 80 cents with an exchange of 29,500 shares. Express Catering dropped 60 cents to $4.35 with investors swapping 77,204 stock units, Fontana declined by 4 cents to end at $5.45 with 1,213,293 units changing hands, Fosrich shed 54 cents to end at $3.46 with an exchange of 36,979 shares. General Accident gained 15 cents to $6.15 after exchanging 117,000 units, Honey Bun inched 1 cent higher to end at $5.64 with an exchange of 1,052 stock units, Indies Pharma declined 2 cents to end at $2.48 with 450,753 shares crossing the exchange. ISP Finance declined by $1 to close at $12 in trading 2,300 stock units, Jamaican Teas added 18 cents to close at $4.89 after investors swapped 69,509 units, Jetcon Corporation surged 8 cents to end at $1.10 in trading 7,929 shares. Junior Market tops 2,600 again

Trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange resulted in Market Index surging 52.72 points to close at 2,602.92 to cross back above the 2,600 mark after falling below it on Monday, as trading fell back to more normal levels, from the heightened level on Tuesday.
By the close of the market, investors exchanged 4,874,547 shares for $20,159,456 compared to 46,968,202 units at $126,633,229 on Tuesday. The day’s activities saw 35 securities changing hands, with the prices of 12 rising 11 stocks declining and 12 closing with prices remaining unchanged. The average PE ratio of the market ended at 9.9 based on IC Insider.com’s 2020-21 earnings.
The average trade of the day was 139,273 units at $575,984, in contrast to an average of 1,467,756 units for $3,957,288 on Tuesday. The average volume for the month to date amounts to 262,928 units at $761,592 for each security trading, in contrast to 271,188 units at $773,989. In contrast, May closed with an average of 150,274 units for $491,077 for each security.

Junior Market gives back some gains

After closing higher on four of five days last week with the week closing with a gain of 42 points on Friday, the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange lost grounds on the first trading day of the week with the market Index declining 32.01 points to close at 2,581.40.
Trading on the finished with 30 securities changing hands, resulting in an exchange of 4,645,198 units valued at $13,350,189 compared to 2,764,337 units valued at $7,742,462 on Friday.
At the close of market activities, the prices of nine securities advanced, 11 declined and nine remained unchanged.
An average of 154,840 shares for each security traded at $445,006 An average of 154,840 units stock traded on Monday at $445,006 each, in contrast to 86,386 units for an average of $241,952 on Friday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 173,151 units valued at $411,659 and previously 175,086 units valued at $408,136. Junior Market trading picked up on the first day of June with 35 securities changing hands, resulting in an exchange of 13,798,652 units valued at $66,443,460 as five companies traded over 1.2 million shares accounting for more than 8 million units that traded.
In contrast to Monday’s high volume, just 4,090,696 units valued at $13,986,258 changed hands from 31 securities on Friday.

Junior Market rises 9% in May

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange ended Friday with modest gains in the market index to close out May, up 9 percent for the month but is still 21.4 percent adrift of the start of the year.
At the close of market activities, the prices of 13 securities advanced, 10 declined and eight remained unchanged. The Junior Market Index advanced by 4.54 points to close at 2,632.97 and the average PE ratio of the market ended at 9.5 times 2020-21 earnings.
Trading resulted in 31 securities changing hands and an exchange of 4,090,696 units at $13,986,259 compared to 4,251,896 units at $11,083,038 on Thursday.
The average trade for the day was 131,958 units for $451,170 in contrast to 146,617 units for an average of $382,174 on Thursday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 150,274 units valued at $491,077 and previously 151,266 units valued at $93,240. In contrast, April closed with an average of 447,863 units valued at $1,028,076 for each security traded.

NB The JSE trading sheet posted on the exchange website shows Lasco Manufacturing trading 1,186,538 shares, but the trading platform used for trading had just 221,121 shares traded, its unclear which is correct at the time of going to publishing. The trading sheet also has Eppley as trading in the Junior Market. The stock migrated to the main market for several months.

Junior Market regains footing – Tuesday

The Junior Market recovered from a slight dip on Monday to record modest gains on Tuesday even as the number of securities declining outweigh those advancing as trading picked up, buoyed by dominant activity in shares of Lumber Depot, Main Event and Mailpac.  

Lumber Depot dominated trading with 4.8 million shares

At the close of the market, the index advanced 17.20 points to close at 2,416. Market activities concluded with the prices of ten securities advancing, 13 declining and six remaining unchanged. The market average PE ratio ended at 9 times 2020-21 earnings.
Trading ended on Tuesday with 29 securities changing hands, resulting in an exchange of 12,280,544 units valued at $26,562,508 compared to 11,413,765 units valued at $23,915,377 from 34 securities on Monday.
Trading ended with an average of 423,467 units at $915,949, for each security traded, in contrast to 335,699 units for an average of $703,393 on Monday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 483,382 units valued at $1,101,248 and previously 486,618 units valued at $1,111,255. In contrast, March closed with an average of 226,230 units valued at $542,563 for each security traded.

Junior Market faltered on Monday

Friday’s rally was short-lived as the Junior Market lost 15.44 points to close at 2,398.80 on Monday after the prices of 16 securities advanced, 14 declined and four remained unchanged as trading picks up over Friday’s levels.

MailPac traded 8 million shares to dominate Junior Market trading.

The market average PE ratio ended at 8.8 times 2020-21 earnings.
Trading concluded on Monday with 34 securities changing hands, resulting in an exchange of 11,413,765 units valued at $23,915,377 compared to 2,927,416 units valued at $8,165,325 from 30 securities on Friday. MailPac dominated the day’s activities, controlling 72 percent of the volume of stocks traded for roughly $14.3 million.
Trading ended with an average of 335,699 units for $703,393 for each security traded in contrast to 97,581 units for an average of $272,177 on Friday. The average volume and value for the month to date continues to exceed March levels, with 486,618 units valued $1,111,255 trading and previously 496,819 valued at $1,138,825. Junior Market ends with big fall

The Junior Market made a third attempt in as many days at moving higher in the morning session on of trading on Thursday climbing over 2,470 points but failed to hold on as the market dipped under 2,300 mark just after mid-day and ended, with the market Index dropping 58.46 points to close at 2,379.11, to be down 29 percent for the year.  
The market closed with 35 securities changing hands with prices of 11 securities advancing, 12 declining while 11 remained unchanged. The average PE ratio of the Junior Market ended at 8.7 based on 2020-21 earnings. Investors exchanged 24,912,363 units valued at $54,086,454, compared to 115,474,401 units valued at $258,980,019 on Wednesday from 33 companies.
Trading ended with an average of 711,782 units fat $1,545,327 for each security, in contrast to 3,499,224 units for an average of $7,847,879 on Wednesday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to units 546,675 valued at $1,193,792 and previously 506,987 units valued at $1,165,701. In contrast, March closed with an average of 226,230 units valued at $542,563 for each security traded.

Junior Market closed down

Junior Market stocks rallied in early trading on Tuesday but pulled back later as the early gain was not adequate to hold off declines later on in the trading day. 
Trading ended with slightly more securities advancing than declining, but the index slid 9.87 points to settle at 2,452.63. The market closed, with the prices of 15 securities advancing, 12 declined and four stocks remained unchanged as 33 securities changed hands, resulting in an exchange of 9,178,794 units valued at $16,852,497 compared to 1,924,700 units valued at $6,915,784 from 33 securities on Monday.
Trading ended with an average of 278,145 units at $510,682 for each security traded, in contrast to 58,324 units for an average of $209,569 on Monday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 263,175 units valued at $621,227and previously 261,847 units valued at $631,033, in comparison, March closed with an average of 226,230 units, valued at $542,563 for each security traded. The average PE ratio of the Junior Market ended at 8.9 based on 2020/21 earnings.
