Trinidad stocks lose more ground

The decline of the Trinidad & Tobago market indices continued apace on Wednesday as declining stocks edged out advancing ones leaving the T&T Composite Index with a loss of 8.83 points to close at 1,363.75, the All T&T Index dropped 12.88 points to end at 1,761.39 and the Cross Listed Index slipped 0.64 points to 130.83.
The market closed with three stocks closing at 52 weeks’ low after four stocks recorded gains, seven declined, while four remained unchanged. The total volume of shares passing through the market climbed to 1,141,627 units valued at $5,923,432 compared to 656,107 shares for $10,311,421 on Tuesday.

Gainers│ Clico Investments added 50 cents transferring 33,862 shares to end at $22, Guardian Holdings picked up 90 cents to close at $17.90, in trading 12,165 units, JMMB Group added 5 cents to end at $2 exchanging 926,457 shares and Republic Financial Holdings gained $5.72 to close at $141.72, with 15,370 stock units changing hands.
Losers│ Angostura Holdings lost 50 cents and slipped to a 52 weeks’ low of $14.50, in trading a mere five stock units, First Citizens Bank closed at $39, after falling $2.75 and exchanging 3,037 units. First Caribbean International Bank shed 15 cents to end at a 52 weeks’ low of $7.70 with 50 stock units crossing the market, Massy Holdings declined by 50 cents to close at $56.50, with 518 stock units changing hands, Scotiabank ended at $57 exchanging 754 units, after losing $1. Trinidad & Tobago NGL shed 24 cents to close at $17.01, with 2,750 stock units crossing the market and West Indian Tobacco lost 24 cents to end at $34.75, trading 139 units.
Firm Trades│ Ansa Merchant Bank traded 51 stock units at $36.30, National Enterprises exchanged 144,795 shares at $5, One Caribbean Media transferred 674 stock units at $7 and Trinidad Cement swapped 1,000 shares at $1.75.

Slight uptick for Junior Market

The Junior Market index rebounded on Wednesday, gaining just 12.99 points to close at 2,113.85, with the prices of 13 securities advancing, 10 declining and nine remaining unchanged as five stocks closed at 52 weeks’ low. The average PE ratio for the Junior Market closed at 9.6 times 2019 earnings.
Trading ended with 32 securities changing hands, resulting in an exchange of 2,522,568 units valued at $6,848,779 compared to 3,161,624 units valued at $9,205,109 from 33 companies’ securities on Tuesday.
Trading ended with an average of 78,830 units at $214,024 for each security traded in contrast to 95,807 units for an average of $278,943 on Tuesday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 228,599 units valued at $537,599 and previously 237,142 valued at $556,057. In contrast, February closed with an average of 167,673 units valued at $488,038 for each security traded.

Trans Jamaica dominates US trading

Trans Jamaica Highway commenced trading in the US dollar market having been listed at the start of trading and dominated market activity 86 percent of the day’s volume.
At the close of trading, the US dollar market ended with 2,713,918 units for $94,890 with the market declining 15.09 points to close at 184.86. First Rock Capital lost 0.6 of a cent to close at 8.4 US cents, with an exchange of 8,880 units, JMMB Group 6% preference share lost 1 cent to close at US$1, with 479 stock units changing hands, Margaritaville traded 100 shares at 24 US cents. Proven Investments shed 1.5 cents in swapping 332,924 units and closed at 23.5 US cents, Sterling Investments lost half of a cent in trading 32,300 stock units and closed at 2 US cents. Sygnus Credit Investments traded 6,264 units 12 US cents and Trans Jamaican Highway shed .001 of a cent in transferring 2,332,971 shares to end the day at 0.9 of a US cent.

Trans Jamaican dives 21% to $1.12

Shares of Trans Jamaican Highway, the most recent initial public (IPO) offer in Jamaica, were listed on the main and US dollar markets of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Tuesday, with the price declining in trading 21 percent at the close, from the J$1.41 IPO price. The stock dominated trading with the highest volume for the day and closed at $1.12 in the local market and 0.09 of a US cent in the US dollar market.
The other big move for the day, was the substantial fall of $16 in the shares of NCB Financial to close at $140, the lowest price of in a year.
At the close four stocks closed at 52 weeks’ low and one at a 52 weeks’ high. The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index declined 826.97 points to 390,578.60, down 30 percent for the year to date. The JSE Market Index lost 748.61 points to 355,986.97, also down 30 percent for 2020 and the JSE Financial Index, which is down 28.6 percent for 2020, gained 0.14 points to close at 98.26.
The market closed with 51 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets with prices of 12 stocks advancing, 28 declining and 11 securities trading firm. The JSE Main Market activity surged well over Monday’s levels after 44 securities passed through the market, accounting for 79,985,445 units valued at $512,772,847, in contrast to 26,276,614 units valued at $347,146,174 from 41 securities on Monday.
Trans Jamaican Highway led trading with 47.8 million shares for 60 percent of total volume, followed by Wigton Windfarm with 23.3 million units for 29 percent of the day’s trade and NCB Financial with 2.9 million units for 3 percent market share. Other stocks trading more than one million units were Trans Jamaican Highway with 2.33 million shares in the US dollar market, Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 1.7 million units and Jamaica Producers with 1.4 million stock units.
The Market closed with an average of 1,817,851 units valued $11,653,928 for each security traded, in contrast to 640,893 units valued at an average of $8,466,980 on Monday. The average volume and value for the month to date amount to 775,631 units valued at $6,653,987 for each security changing hands compared to 708,783 units valued at 6,313,433 for each security traded. Trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange ended on Tuesday with the market Index diving 52.80 points to close at 2,100.86, down 37 percent for the year as 33 securities changed hands, with prices of nine securities rising, 15 falling and nine remaining unchanged.
 At the close of market activities, 3,161,624 units traded valued at $9,205,109 compared to 3,024,296 units valued at $6,277,143 form 36 securities on Monday.
Trading ended with an average of 95,807 units for an average of $278,943 in contrast to 84,008 units for an average of $174,365 on Monday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to units 237,142 valued at $556,057 and previously 245,975 units valued at $573,376. More big losses in TTSE indices

The Trinidad & Tobago Stock exchange ended another day with a sharp decline in the Market indices as declining stocks outnumbered advancers by a two to one margin on Tuesday. The day’s fall brings the losses for the year to date to 5 percent.

The market closed with trading in 17 securities with five stock rising and nine stocks declining, while three remained unchanged. The volume of stocks passing through the market fell to 462,718 shares valued at $8,783,460 compared to 462,718 shares for $8,783,460 on Monday.

Trans Jamaican Highway trades at $1.02

Shares of Trans Jamaican Highway trades at $1.02 after listing this morning. The stock that was sold to the public at $1.41 in February traded 17,804,223 up to $1.39 at 11.18 AM and has fallen 28 percent from the Initial Public Offer in the Jamaican dollar market but far less based on US dollar trading.
Bids in the market to buy are sparse with twenty bids to buy between $1.02 and a low of 50 cents, while sellers are dominant with 600 on the offer to sell from $1.03 upwards.
The public offer attracted 36,062 applicants and was oversubscribed and with a total intake of $25.12 billion.

The Concession Company and the Public Sector Employees reserve shares pool were undersubscribed. The excess was transferred to the Registered Pension Funds and E-Tag Reserve Pools. Applicants in the Registered Pension Funds Reserve and E-Tag Reserve Pool were fully allotted based on transfers to the Registered Pension Funds and E-Tag Reserve Pools. Underwriters Reserve Pool was allocated shares on a pro-rata basis as the pool was oversubscribed, with the excess moved to the General Public Pool.
Allocation to the General Public as a result of oversubscription was allocated up to 10,000 shares with applications in excess of 10,000 shares allocated increments of a further 10,000 shares until all shares were allocated.
Trans Jamaica came to the market at a PE ratio of 24 times 2020 earnings. Since the opening of the IPO much has happened in the capital market with prices falling sharply with the spread of the Coronavirus. Importantly, since March traveling around Jamaica has declined and that is expected to affect the revenues for the highway as long as business activity remains low.

Big 11,744 points JSE Main Market drop

The Main Market of the Jamaica Stocks Exchange took another big hit on Monday as heavyweight Sagicor dropped $6 and a fall of $5.51 in the average price of NCB Financial help to knock 11,744.53 points off the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index to close down 30 percent for the year to date at 391,405.57. The JSE Market Index had 10,819.03 points chopped off, to end at 356,735.58, while the JSE Financial Index fell 4.49 points to 98.12.
The market closed with 45 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets with prices of 17 stocks advancing, 17 declining and 11 securities trading firm. The JSE Main Market activity ended with 41 securities accounting for 26,276,614 units valued at $347,146,174, in contrast to 36,332,153 units valued at $175,354,038 from 42 securities on Friday.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with 9.9 million shares for 37.8 percent of total volume followed by Carreras with 3.5 million units for 13.2 percent of the day’s trade and Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 2.2 million units for 8.4 percent market share. Other stocks trading more than one million units were Barita Investments with 1.4 million shares, Jamaica Producers, with 1.4 million stock units and Sagicor Group with 1.3 million units.

The Junior Market index rose for the third consecutive trading day, gaining a modest 14.19 points to close at 2,153.66 on Monday as 36 securities changed hands, with the prices of just ten stocks advancing, 21 declining and five closed unchanged.
Market activities resulted in an exchange of 3,024,296 units valued at just $6,277,143 compared to 3,640,594 units valued at $10,061,535 on Friday.  The average market PE ratio ended at ten times, 2019 earnings.
Trading concluded with an average of 84,008 units at $174,365 for each security traded, in contrast to an average of 110,321 units for $304,895 on Friday. Knutsford Express fell 25 cents to $7.25 with 1,300 shares traded, Lasco Distributors concluded trading of 9,994 units and gained 20 cents to finish at $2.60, Lasco Financial closed 6 cents higher at $2.56 with 78,306 units traded. Lasco Manufacturing rose 4 cents after exchanging 136,184 shares at $2.86, Limners and Bards ended trading with 42,154 shares, after rising 10 cents to close at $1.70, Lumber Depot exchanging 429,151 shares and lost 3 cents to close at $1.25. MailPac fell 9 cents to $1.31 with 478,451 units traded, Main Event declined by 39 cents to settle at $3.81 with 8,332 shares changing hands, Medical Disposables closed trading of 1,889 units and gained 50 cents to end at $6.20. Paramount Trading gained 30 cents and exchanged 4,956 units to end at $2, SSL Venture closed at $1 after falling 10 cents and swapping 10,543 shares and tTech declined by 55 cents to $3.70 with 1,660 stock units crossing the exchange.
In the junior market preference segment, CAC 2000 9.5% preference shares ended market activity, exchanging 37,033 shares to close at 80 cents after falling 7 cents.

Big drop in TTSE on Monday

Six stocks closed at their lowest levels in a year on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Monday as the major market indices suffered sharp declines after 16 securities traded and leading to one stock rising, fourteen declining and one remaining unchanged.

At the close, the T&T Composite Index dropped 19.21 points to 1,390.48. The All T&T Index plunged 34.18 points to end at 1,802.50 while the Cross Listed Index closed with a decline of 0.55 points at 132.48.
The volume of stocks passing through the market fell to 462,718 shares valued at $8,783,460 compared to 658,697 shares for $21,898,549 on Friday.

Ansa Merchant Bank traded 1,900 units, with a loss of 5 cents to end at $36.30, First Citizens Bank shed $3 to close at $42, with 16,260 units crossing the market, Guardian Holdings dipped 68 cents trading 6,065 stock units to end at a 52 weeks’ low of $17.90. JMMB Group closed at $1.90, after falling 10 cents in exchanging 160,383 units, Massy Holdings shed $1 to end at $58, with 2,330 stock units changing hands, National Enterprise lost 25 cents trading 500 stock units to finish at a 52 weeks’ low of $5. National Flour slipped to a 52 weeks’ low of a $1.20, after falling 2 cents and transferring 1,950 units, One Caribbean Media traded 300 stock units at a 52 weeks’ low of $7, with a decline of 15 cents. Prestige Holdings declined by 50 cents to end at $8, transferring 2,941 units. Scotiabank fell by $1.50 to end at $58 trading 11,246 stock units and West Indian Tobacco declined by $1.50 to close at $35, with 29,510 stock units crossing the market.
Firm Trades│ Republic Financial Holdings traded 12,451 stock units at $144.
