JSE majors slip again

The Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange suffered more losses in trading on Thursday after the market reopened from the Ash Wednesday break as declining stocks had two to one ratio over rising ones after trading levels increased over Tuesday.

First Rock closed at a new low of $13.

At the close, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index dipped 1,243.28 points to 531,671.90. The JSE Market Index dropped 1,125.70 points to 484,037.45, while the JSE Financial Index slipped 0.18 points to 131.13.
The market closed with 46 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets with the prices of 12 advancing, 22 declining and 12 trading firm. The JSE Main Market activity ended with 41 securities accounting for 27,834,480 units valued at $185,509,886 in contrast to 31,839,670 units valued at $148,017,425 from 39 securities on Tuesday.
Sagicor Select Financial Fund traded 15.7 million shares for 56.5 percent of total volume, Wigton Windfarm followed with 6.6 million units for 23.7 percent of the day’s trade and Sagicor Group with 762,613 shares for 2.7 percent of the market share.
The Market closed with an average of 678,890 units valued at $4,524,631 for each security traded, in contrast to 565,203 units at an average of $3,795,319 on Tuesday. The average volume and value for the month to date amount to 596,981 units valued at $2,909,960 for each security changing hands compared to 592,330 units valued at $2,812,748 for each security traded. Trading in January resulted in an average of 626,134 units valued at $3,511,981 for each security.

138 Student Living preference shares declined by 50 cents to settle at $5.50, in swapping 3,555,944 shares.
Trading in the US dollar market ended with 157,614 units valued $41,526. The market lost 1.01 points to close at 226.17. Newly listed First Rock Capital, traded 15,539 units at 12 US cents, Margaritaville exchanged 1,551 units at 29 US cents, Proven Investments lost 1.9 cents and closed at 29.1 US cents, with 113,774 units changing hands. Sterling Investments shed 0.04 cents after swapping 350 shares to settle at 2.85 US cents and Sygnus Credit Investments lost 2 cents to end at 17.5 US cents in trading 26,400 units.

Sharp pull back for JSE Main Market

The Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange suffered significant losses in the indices as declining stocks had the upper hand over rising ones after trading levels increased over Monday.
At the close, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index dived 5,157.29 points to 532,915.18. The JSE Market Index dropped 4,667.89 points to 485,163.15, while the JSE Financial Index fell 0.99 points to 131.31.
The market closed with 44 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets with the prices of 12 advancing, 15 declining and 17 trading firm. The JSE Main Market activity ended with 39 securities accounting for 31,839,670 units valued at $148,017,425 in contrast to 17,374,368 units valued at $123,900,597 from 42 securities on Monday.
Wigton Windfarm traded 13 million shares for 41 percent of total volume, followed by Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 5.2 million units for 16.2 percent of the day’s trade and JMMB Group 7.5% preference share with 4.7 million shares for 14.6 percent of the market share.  Other stocks trading more than one million units were 138 Student Living with 3.6 million shares and Jamaica Producers with 1.3 million units.

JSE Main Market trading picks up

Trading picked up on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Monday, with 42 securities accounting for 17,374,368 units amounting to $123,900,597 in contrast to 15,728,098 units at $58,677,916 from 38 securities on Friday.
The market closed with 47 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets with the prices of 15 advancing, 18 declining and 14 trading firm.
At the close, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index declined 189.54 points to close at 538,072.47, the JSE Market Index fell 171.57 points to 489,831.04 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.48 points to 132.30.
Sagicor Select Financial Fund closed trading with 10 million shares for 57.8 percent of total volume, Wigton Windfarm followed with 2.8 million units for 16 percent of the day’s trade, and 138 Student Living with 1.13 million shares for 6.5 percent market share.

More slippage for JSE Main Market

The Jamaica Stock Exchange at the close on Thursday and shed some of the recent gains up to Tuesday, but with the value of securities trading, falling from Wednesday’s levels with higher volume.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange shed some of the gains accumulated over the past four days as the value of stocks trading rose well over Tuesday’s levels, but with lower volume.
All Jamaican Composite Index declined by 1,388.73 points to close at 536,548.26, at the close on Wednesday, the JSE Market Index dropped 1,256.86 points to 488,451.55 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.29 points to 132.56.
The market closed with 45 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets with the prices of 12 advancing, 18 declining and 15 trading firm. The JSE Main Market activity ended with 42 securities accounting for 13,058,687 units valued at $207,850,962 in contrast to 17,938,463 units valued at $135,316,853 from 42 securities on Tuesday.
Sagicor Select Financial Fund led trading with 4.1 million shares, and accounting for 31.5 percent of total volume, Wigton Windfarm followed with 2.45 million units for 18.8 percent of the day’s trade and QWI Investments with 1.8 million shares accounted for 14 percent of market share.

Main Market up 11,000 points in 4 days

The Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed higher on Tuesday for the fourth consecutive day, in the process clawed back 11,331 points of the 22,907.85 points lost from the start of February up to last Wednesday.
At the close, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index advanced 1,598.69 points to close at 537,936.99, the JSE Market Index added 1,450.74 points to 489,708.41 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.69 points to 132.85.
The market closed with 46 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets with the prices of 20 advancing, 12 declining and 14 trading firm. JSE Major moved higher

Trading on the Main Market of Jamaica Stock exchange closed with a rise in the market indices as the volume and value of stock trading declined below Friday’s levels.
At the close, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index advanced 2,805.56 points to close at 536,338.30, the JSE Market Index gained 2,384.71 points to 488,257.67, but the JSE Financial Index lost 0.01 point to 132.16.

Pulse Investments lost 60 cents to end at $11.50, in transferring 273,348 shares, Sagicor Group closed $2.17 higher to $69.69 while exchanging 16,358 shares, Seprod settled at $46, after a loss of 50 cents in transferring 27,670 shares, Stanley Motta lost 74 cents to close at $5.01 trading 18,913 units. Supreme Ventures advanced by $1.47 to $23.17, with 11,455 shares changing hands and Victoria Mutual Investments lost 40 cents to close at $10, with an exchange of 275,878 shares. In the preference segment, Productivity Business Solution lost $5 to close at $100, with 1,001,825 shares crossing the exchange.
Trading in the US dollar market ended with 1,597 units valued at over US$330. The market index rose 1.73 points to close at 230.63. Proven Investments gained half of 1 cent to close at 31 US cents after transferring 500 units and Sygnus Credit Investments exchanged 1,097 units at 16 US cents.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange closed with slightly more stocks rising than falling, leading to gains in the Main Market indices at the close on Friday as more investment dollars entered the market than on Thursday.
At the close of trading, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index advanced 2,205.30 points to close at 533,532.74, the JSE Market Index added 2,005.08 points to 485,872.96 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.85 points to 132.17.

Wigton Windfarm ended trading with 10.3 million shares for 40 percent of total volume, followed by Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 9.2 million units for 36 percent of the day’s trade and Sagicor Select Manufacturing and Distribution with 2.2 million shares for 8 percent of the market’s volume. QWI Investments was the only other stock trading more than one million units, ending the day’s trade with 1.1 million units.

NCB Financial gained 50 cents to settle at $185, in transferring 153,378 shares, PanJam Investment lost 97 cents to close at $99.03, with an exchange of 9,603 shares, Proven Investments ended at $47.25, with a loss of $1.25 with 13,725 shares changing hands. Pulse Investments climbed $2.12 to close at a 52 weeks’ high of $12.10, in transferring 435,669 shares, Sagicor Group declined $1.23 to $67.52 while trading 22,052 shares, Salada Foods gained $3 to end at $35, in an exchange of 144 units, Seprod closed 49 cents lower to $46.50, with 78,103 shares changing hands. Stanley Motta swapped 269,383 shares at $5.75, after gaining 75 cents, Sygnus Credit Investments added 50 cents to close at $24.50, in transferring 10,080 shares and Wisynco Group ended 50 cents lower at $22.50, with an exchange of 180,962 shares.
Trading in the US dollar market ended with 228,960 units valued US$67,649. The market index dipped 1.11 points to close at 228.90. Proven Investments lost half of 1 cent to close at 30.50 US cents in exchanging 213,980 units, Sygnus Credit Investments transferred 14,557 units at 16 US cents and Sterling Investments gained 0.3 cents after trading 423 units to settle at 2.7 US cents.

Stock prices bounced at the close of trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Thursday with the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index surging 4,721.23 points to 531,327.44, the JSE Market Index climbed 4,335.34 points to 483,867.88 and the JSE Financial Index rose just 0.70 points to end at 131.32.

Wigton Windfarm dominated trading with 14.4 million shares for 45 percent of total volume, followed by Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 12.7 million units for 39 percent of the day’s trade and QWI Investments with 1.7 million shares for 5 percent of the market’s volume.

JMMB Group lost $1 to close at $43.50, with 156,628 units trading. Kingston Wharves advanced by $6.85 to $61.85, with a mere 150 units traded, Mayberry Investments gained 92 cents to end at $8.10, in exchanging 75,325 shares, MPC Caribbean Clean Energy tumbled by $14.50 to $180, after swapping 298 units. NCB Financial settled at $184.50, with a loss of 50 cents transferring 49,078 shares, Pulse Investments ended $1.08 higher to $9.98, with 285,756 shares changing hands, Sagicor Group closed at $68.75, losing $1.25 in trading 46,397 shares. Scotia Group gained 50 cents to end at $54, in transferring 86,072 units, Seprod closed 99 cents higher to $46.99, with 12,565 shares traded, Supreme Ventures ended at $21.70, after losing 30 cents exchanging 90,508 units. Sygnus Credit Investments gained 78 cents trading 24,120 units in closing at $24 and Wisynco Group ended the day’s trade 40 cents higher at $23, with 197,788 units changing hands.
Trading in the US dollar market ended with 24,037 units valued at over US$6,341. The market index soared 13.22 points to close at 230.01. Proven Investments gained 4 cents to close at 31 US cents in trading 16,635 units and Sygnus Credit Investments lost 1 cent to end at 16 US cents, with an exchange of 7,402 units.
