Huge surge for Junior Market Index

The trading week started with a flurry of positives for the junior market on Monday as 37 securities traded of which 26 advanced, four declined and seven traded unchanged, sending the market index soaring 108.72 points to close at 2,252.80 and putting the average PE ratio of the market at just 8.6 times 2020 earnings.

Junior market recovering with the Index pointing up

Trading on Monday resulted in an exchange of 8,601,172 units valued at $20,333,956 compared to 3,982,260 units valued at $9,382,200 on Friday.
The trading day concluded with an average of 232,464 units at $549,566 for each security traded in contrast to 117,125 units for an average of $275,947 on Friday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 216,579 units valued at $508,797 and previously 215,698 valued at $506,536. In contrast, February closed with an average of 167,673 units at 488,038 for each security traded.

Caribbean Producers added 15 cents to close at $2.40 with a market-leading trade of 5,133,280 stock units, Consolidated Bakeries ended with 100 shares traded after rising 9 cents to close at $1.55, Derrimon Trading gained 39 cents to finish at $1.85 in the exchange of 12,500 units. Key Insurance closed 30 cents higher at $2.30 with 2,000 stock units trading, Knutsford Express climbed $1 to settle at $8 with 43,905 shares changing hands, Lasco Distributors fell 2 cents in trading of 54,677 units at $2.98. Lasco Manufacturing gained 15 cents and exchanged 272,661 shares at $2.90, Limners and Bards advanced 26 cents in trading 418,392 units to end at $2.06, Lumber Depot concluded market activity exchanging 883,100 shares to close at $1.15 after falling 6 cents. Good week for JSE Junior Market

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange bounced for five trading days out of the last seven and closed the week on a strong note with 34 securities changing hands and leading to the prices of 21 securities rising, while eight declined and five remained unchanged.
The Junior Market Index advanced by 50.32 points to close at 2,144.08 after an exchange of 3,982,260 units accounting for $9,382,200 compared to 4,329,260 units valued at $9,680,619 on Thursday.
Trading ended with an average of 117,125 units for an average of $275,947 in contrast to 108,232 units for an average of $242,015 on Thursday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to units 215,698 valued at $506,536 and previously 220,993 units valued at $518,921. In contrast, February closed with an average of 167,673 units valued at 488,038 for each security traded.

All but one Junior Market stock trade

Stability seems to be settling into the Junior market after sharp sell-off.

Trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange settled on Thursday with Index falling 20.09 points to close at 2,093.76 as 40 securities changed hands, leaving just one ordinary listing that had no trading. At the close of market activities, the prices of 17 securities advanced, 18 declined and five remained unchanged.
At the close, market activity resulted in an exchange of 4,329,260 units valued at $9,680,619 compared to 2,522,568 units valued at $6,848,779 on Wednesday and the average PE ratio of the market reached 9.8 times 2019 earnings at the close.
Trading ended with an average of 108,232 units for an average of $242,015 in contrast to 78,830 units for an average of $214,024 on Wednesday. Junior Market bounces again

The Junior Market index rose on Friday for the second day running by 31.11 points to close at 2,139.47 after heavily weighted Caribbean Producers and Express Catering jumped 75 cents and 40 cents, respectively.
Trading ended with 33 securities changing hands, with 11 stocks advancing, 15 declining and the prices of seven companies holding firm, resulting in an exchange of 3,640,594 units valued at $10,061,535 compared to 3,923,029 units valued at $10,812,457 on Thursday. The average PE ratio market ended at 10.2 times, 2019 earnings.

Junior Market jumps sharply – Thursday

The Junior Market index jumped 76.57 points to close at 2,108.36 on Thursday for the first time since it last rose on Tuesday last week and stemming the flow of bleeding for five consecutive days of trading.
Trading ended with 37 securities changing hands with the prices of 17 securities advancing, ten declining and 11 stocks holding firm. Market activities ended with three finishing at 52 weeks’ lows with Access Financial trading at a low of $18, Everything Fresh at 65 cents and Indies Pharma at $1.93.

Junior stocks mostly rise but index falls

The Junior Market Index dropped again in trading on Wednesday by 49.39 points to close at 2,031.79 and taking the fall for the year to date to 39.3 percent, taking the market way back to July 11, 2016 levels, the second year of the last bull run.
Trading resulted in many stocks rebounding at the close of the market activities and leading to the prices of 17 securities rising, 13 declining and the prices of seven stocks closing unchanged.
Trading on the Junior Market concluded with 37 securities changing hands, resulting in an exchange of 12,311,523 units valued at $19,911,394 compared to 38,566,809 units valued at $62,217,505 on Tuesday, with the average market PE ratio ending at 10.1 times 2019 earnings.

Junior Market carnage worsens – Tuesday

The Junior Market continued its freefall on Tuesday, dropping a record 152.05 points to close at 2,081.18, levels not seen since April 2016 as the 36 securities trading resulted in 23 stocks declining, seven rising and six stocks holding firm with the market losing 38 percent of its value since the start of the year.
At the close of trading nine stocks ended at 52 weeks’ lows and several stocks suffered steep fall in prices and were led by ISP Finance with a drop of $4.75, followed by Cargo Handlers $1.40, Jamaican Teas $1.05, Fontana $1.02 and Caribbean Producers with a large capitalization shed 78 cents.
Trading resulted in an exchange of 38,566,809 units at $62,217,505, of which Derrimon Trading accounted for 28.6 million units, compared to 20,701,190 units valued at $69,475,355 on Monday, with the average market PE ratio ending at 10.3 times 2019 earnings.
The trading day ended with an average of 1,071,300 units for $1,728,264 for each security traded in contrast to an average of 559,492 units for an average of $1,877,712 on Monday.  The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 277,858 units valued at $664,104 and previously 196,013 units valued at $553,434. In contrast, February closed with an average of 167,673 units valued at $488,038 for each security traded.

Fontana closed trading of 1,939,436 units and shed $1.02 to end at a 52 weeks’ low of $3.72, Fosrich added by 5 cents to finish at $3 in swapping of 17,160 units, General Accident dropped 50 cents in trading of 176,828 units at $4.50. Honey Bun closed with an exchange of 210,094 shares after falling 62 cents to $4.50, iCreate slipped 3 cents to 45 cents with 444,000 shares traded, Indies Pharma added 12 cents in exchanging 20,972 units at $2.09. Iron Rock Insurance closed at a 52 weeks’ low of $2 after dropping 30 cents and swapping 83,352 shares, ISP Finance fell to $15 after shedding $4.75 with 6,000 shares crossing the exchange, Jamaican Teas dropped $1.05 after trading 186,502 shares to end at $3.95. Jetcon fell 20 cents exchanging 396,473 shares at a 52 weeks’ low of 97 cents, KLE closed trading of 100,000 units and slipped 12 cents to settle at $1.60, Knutsford Express fell 30 cents to $8 with 2,746 shares traded. Lasco Distributors exchanged 143,713 shares and gained 30 cents to close at $2.20, Lasco Financial dropped 20 cents trading of 1,231,043 units and to settle at $2, Lasco Manufacturing lost 7 cents to settle at $2.86 with 138,909 units changing hands. Limners and Bards ended 26 cents higher at $2.26 with 120,000 shares crossing the market, Lumber Depot fell 10 cents to a 52 weeks’ low of $1.17 with an exchange of 448,162 stock units, MailPac closed trading of 3,497,845 units and lost 3 cents to end at $1.35. Main Event finished at $3.51 after dropping 49 cents, exchanging 120,152 shares, Medical Disposables declined by 40 cents in the swapping of 6,029 to close at $5.30, and Stationery and Office Supplies lost 20 cents to settle at a 52 weeks’ low of $5.70 with 26,454 stock units crossing the exchange.
