Sharp jump in TTSE indices – Wednesday

Ansa Mcal hits new high on Wednesday.

The Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange bounced sharply at the close of trading on Wednesday as three stocks recorded significant upward price movements to continue its mild bullish trend since late 2019.
Trading ended, with four stocks rising, four declining while 13 closed unchanged, with two stocks ending at 52 weeks’ high. The Composite Index jumped 15.06 points to 1,489.98. The All T&T Index surged 25.40 points to 1,898.11, while the Cross Listed Index rose 0.62 points to close at 146.54.
The number of securities trading on Wednesday surged to 21, resulting in an exchange of just 67,094 shares for $1,662,903, compared to 385,720 units amounting to $1,884,774, from 15 trading securities on Tuesday.
IC bid-offer Indicator| The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with the bids of three stocks higher than their last selling prices and four with lower offers.
Gains| Ansa McAl jumped $4.80 and completed trading of just nine units at a 52 weeks’ high of $60, Endeavour Holdings traded 500 shares and rose 4 cents to close at a record high of $12.54. First Citizens Bank gained 40 cents and settled at $45, with an exchange of 4,626 shares and Republic Financial jumped $3 to a 52 weeks’ high of $135 while trading 1,000 stock units.
Losses| Clico Investments shed 1 cent to end at $27.94, with 8,077 units crossing the exchange, Guardian Holdings dropped 50 cents and ended at $21.50, after exchanging 2,081 shares. JMMB Group lost 4 cents to close at $2.61, with 550 stock units changing hands and West Indian Tobacco fell 20 cents to $41, with an exchange of 1,025 stock units.
Firm Trades| Agostini’s traded ten shares at $25, Angostura Holdings ended at $16.02, with only four units crossing the exchange, CinemaOne swapped 100 shares at $6.55, First Caribbean International Bank completed trading 200 units at $8. Grace Kennedy ended trading of 2,568 shares at $3.95; Massy Holdings lost 50 cents trading of 1,658 units to close at $61.50, National Enterprises closed at $5.76, after 14,700 shares changed hands, National Flour transferred 3,651 units at $1.36. NCB Financial settled at $11, after exchanging 9,116 shares, Prestige Holdings closed at $8.90, after trading 39 shares, Scotiabank ended at $61, in trading 7,620 stock units, Trinidad & Tobago NGL closed trading of 10,000 shares at $23.66 and Trinidad Cement ended at $2, with 160 stock units changing hands.

Declines for TTSE stocks on Monday

Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange Head Quarters

The Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange had the first decline since trading resumed in 2020 but with an equal number of stock prices rising and falling.
Trading ended, with two stocks rising, two declining while elven closed with prices unchanged, leading the Composite Index slipping 0.65 points to 1,471.40. The All T&T Index shed 1.29 points to 1,870.53, while the Cross Listed Index remained unchanged at 145.26.
Trading ended with just 15 securities changing hands with 127,724 shares changing hands at $881,569 compared to 368,007 units at $5,109,209 from 16 securities changing hands on Friday.
IC bid-offer Indicator| The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with the bids of three stocks higher than their last selling prices and three with lower offers.
Gains| National Flour gained 1 cent and settled at $1.36, with 150 stock units trading and Republic Financial rose 99 cents to end at a 52 weeks’ high of $132 with 765 units changing hands.
Losses| First Citizens shed 50 cents to end at $44.50, with investors exchanging 1,220 shares and West Indian Tobacco dropped 2 cents with 3,295 units crossing the exchange at $41.22.
Firm Trades| Angostini’s concluded trading with 2,020 units at $26, Angostura Holdings closed at $16.20, with 20 units crossing the exchange, Ansa McAl settled at $55.20, after exchanging 240 shares, Endeavour Holdings traded 40 shares at $12.50. First Caribbean International Bank settled at $8, with the trading of 3,270 units, Guardian Holdings completed trading of 1,580 shares at $22, Guardian Media closed at $7.50, with investors exchanging 10,000 units. NCB Financial ended at $10.86, with an exchange of 5,000 units, Scotiabank closed at $61, with investors exchanging 1,713 shares, Trinidad & Tobago NGL closed trading of 1,614 shares at $23.75 and Trinidad Cement settled at $2, with 96,837 stock units changing hands.

TTSE stocks gain 9.6% for 2019

The Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange closed 2019 with gains for the three leading indices with the All T&T Index gaining nearly 10 percent for the year and reversing five consecutive years’ of decline.
At the close of trading on Tuesday, the Composite Index lost 10.11 points to end at 1,468.41, on the last day of the year but gained 12.73 percent for 2019. The All T&T Index rose 3.67 points, but ended the year up 9.61 percent for the year at 1,868.97, while the Cross Listed Index declined 3.28 points to close at 144.65 and end out the year with a rise of 19 percent. The Small and Medium Enterprise index dropped over 32 percent for the year at 67.76 points.
Trading ended with just 13 securities changing hands, similar to the number trading on Monday, with seven rising, four declining and two closed with prices unchanged, as 229,238 shares traded at a value of $3,637,335 compared to 169,650 shares trading at $2,829,522 on Tuesday. The market had two stocks hitting 52 weeks’ high at the close of trading.
IC bid-offer Indicator| The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with the bids of five stocks higher than their last selling prices and three with lower offers.
Gains| Agostini’s concluded trading of 500 units with a gain of $1 to close at 52 weeks’ high of $25, Guardian Holdings closed with a gain of 15 cents at $21.65, with 5,331 stock units changing hands, National Flour gained 4 cents to end at $1.35, with 27,346 stock units trading. Trinidad & Tobago NGL gained 75 cents in trading 18,298 shares at $24 and West Indian Tobacco added 25 cents and concluded at $41.25, with investors exchanging 1,633 shares.
Losses| First Caribbean International Bank lost 10 cents to end at 52 weeks’ low of $7.90, with 210 stock units changing hands, Grace Kennedy closed with a loss of 5 cents at $3.95, after swapping of 1,000 shares and NCB Financial lost 43 cents to end at $10.86, with 100,000 stock units trading.
Firm Trades| Clico Investment Fund closed at $28.50, exchanging 45,937 units, First Citizens settled at $44.50, with 550 units crossing the exchange, National Enterprises ended at $5.76, trading 25,300 units, Republic Financial closed at $131.10, with 2,898 stock units changing hands and Scotiabank settled at $61, after trading with 250 units.

Massy traded at a 52 weeks’ high on Monday.

The All Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange index closed sharply higher on Monday, with sizable price changes for some stocks, including one trading at 52 weeks’ high.
Trading ended with 17 securities changing hands, against 16 on Friday, with just seven advancing, three declining while seven remained unchanged as 363,353 shares traded at $8,102,591, compared to 306,927 shares for $2,734,005 on Friday.
At the close of the market, the Composite Index added 2.01 points to end at 1,470.49. The All T&T Index jumped 28.04 points to 1,864.24, while the Cross Listed Index shed 3.32 points to close at 145.87.
IC bid-offer Indicator| The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with the bids of three stocks higher than their last selling prices and just one with a lower offer.
Gains| Ansa McAl jumped $5.19 to $55.19, with trading in 21,765 stock units, Guardian Holdings rose 50 cents and ended at $22, with 58,454 stock units changing hands, Massy Holdings gained 30 cents and closed at a 52 weeks’ high of $60, with investors exchanging 17,836 shares. National Enterprises rose 21 cents to close at $5.76, after trading 101 stock units, National Flour added 1 cent and ended at $1.31, with 2,000 shares crossing the exchange. Scotiabank surged $1.10 to $61, after swapping 1,758 shares and Trinidad & Tobago NGL gained 25 cents with 128,032 shares changing hands at $22.75.
Losses| JMMB Group dropped 6 cents to settle at $2.75, with 40,465 units crossing the exchange, NCB Financial fell 5 cents and closed at $10.85, with 72,345 units changing hands and Republic Financial ended trading 5 cents lower at $131, after swapping 3,686 shares.
Firm Trades| Agostinis’ exchanged 300 shares at $24, Angostura Holdings ended at $16.20, with 990 stock units changing hands, First Caribbean International Bank traded 600 units at $8, First Citizens Bank completed trading at of just six stock units at $44.75. West Indian Tobacco settled at $42, with 3,155 units trading, Trinidad Cement concluded at $1.95, with 11,800 stock units changing hands and Unilever Caribbean completed trading at $23, with the swapping of 60 shares.

New 52 weeks’ high for Witco

West Indian Tobacco gained $1 to close at a 52 weeks’ high of $41 with investors exchanging more than 9,000 shares as some selling came out.
At the close of the market, bids to buy the stock was for 430 units at $40.01 and closed with 854 stocks offered for sale at $41.

Witco $5 surge creates big index gains

West Indian Tobacco jumped $5.02 to a 52 weeks’ high of $40, with investors exchanging 700 shares, to record the first trade since the price adjusted for the three for one split last week. The move helped along with increases in eight other stocks to push the All T&T Index up by 1.56 percent for the day.
At the close of the market, bids to buy the stock rose to 23,980 units at $40 up from 20,465 units on Monday. The market closed with no shares offered for sale.
At the close of the market, the All T&T Index surged 27.88 points to 1,811.56, while the Cross Listed Index rose 1.18 points to close at 146.12 as prices of 9 stocks rose, 3 declined while 5 remained unchanged, leading the Composite Index to climb 18.33 points to 1,444.91.
In the overall market on Monday, investors traded 153,598 shares, amounting to $1,718,205 from an exchange of 17 securities, against 12 on Monday, resulting in trading in 65,975 shares amounting to $950,201.

After the three for one stock split of West Indian Tobacco shares took effect on Tuesday, there is no trading in the stock so far, although there is buying interest.
The number of stocks on the bid to buy is up to 1,065 units at $40 compared with the adjusted last traded price of $34.98. There were no stocks on offer posted sell at the close.
Investors exchanged 633,013 shares for $4,629,584 from an exchange of 15 securities against 12 on Tuesday, when 174,546 shares for $2,851,630 traded.
