Trading closed on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Monday, with the market index dropping. The market closed with the volume of stocks traded dropped 43 percent, with 31 percent lower value than on Friday, following trading in 42 securities, compared with 44 on Friday and ending, with prices of 18 rising, 14 declining and 10 closing unchanged.
The market closed with trading of 4,381,580 shares for $7,840,390, well below the 7,655,368 units at $11,369,983 on Friday.
Trading closed with an average of 104,323 shares at $186,676, down sharply from 173,986 units at $258,409 on Friday. Trading for the month to date, averages 142,396 units at $295,201 slightly lower than 151,693 stock units at $321,701 on Friday and August, an average of 433,821 shares at $676,565.
Lasco Financial led trading with only 665,320 shares for 15.2 percent of total volume, followed by Atlantic Hardware which ended with 527,768 units for 12 percent of the day’s trade and Woodcats International with 502,100 stocks for 11.5 percent of the volume traded.
At the close of trading, the Junior Market Index skidded 29.40 points to finish at 2,922.95. The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows five stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and four with lower offers.
The Junior Market ended trading with an average PE Ratio of 11.4. ICInsider.com compiles the PE ratios, derived by dividing the last traded price of a stock by the earnings per share for companies with the fiscal year ending around August 2026.
At the close, Access Financial gained $1.17 in closing at $18 with investors trading a mere 3 shares, AMG Packaging declined by 25 cents to $1.60 in an exchange of 20,930 stocks, Cargo Handlers lost $2 to end at $14.15 after closing with an exchange of 9,925 shares. Caribbean Flavours rose 6 cents to close at $1.24 after trading of 29,471 stock units, Dolla Financial shed 10 cents and ended at $3.40 after 366,114 shares changed hands, Dolphin Cove climbed 37 cents to finish at $9.99, with 11,919 stock units crossing the market. Elite Diagnostic fell 7 cents to $1.87 with investors trading 3,294 shares, Fontana skidded 15 cents to close at $6.20 with an exchange of 46,487 units, Image Plus increased 5 cents in closing at $1.20, with 122,901 stock units changing hands.
Iron Rock Insurance climbed 19 cents to close at $2.69 after trading of 700 shares, Jetcon Corporation dipped 8 cents to finish at $4.13 after a transfer of 64,392 shares, Lasco Financial dropped 14 cents to end at $1.46 following trading of 665,320 stock units. Mailpac Group slipped 14 cents and ended at $2.31, with 500,921 shares changing hands, Regency Petroleum advanced 14 cents to $4.19 with investors dealing in 34,105 units, Spur Tree Spices rallied 5 cents to end at $1.40 after an exchange of 28,669 stocks and Stationery and Office Supplies increased 13 cents and ended at $1.63 with investors swapping just 1,795 stock units.Prices of securities trading are those of the last transaction.
