Rising stocks equal losers on JSE USD Market

The Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market closed on Thursday, with the volume of stocks traded rising 9 percent with a 71 percent lower value than on Wednesday, resulting in the exchange of eight securities, compared to five on Wednesday with prices of three rising, three declining and two ending unchanged.
The market closed with an exchange of 261,025 shares for US$7,711 compared to 238,507 units at US$26,771 on Wednesday.
Trading averaged 32,628 shares at US$964 compared to 47,701 stocks at US$5,354 on Wednesday, with a month to date average of 159,501 units at US$4,835 compared with 168,645 shares at US$5,114 on the previous day and August that ended with an average of 297,880 stock units for US$8,245.
The US Denominated Equities Index inched 1.38 points higher to wrap up trading at 232.96.
The PE Ratio, one of the best known measures used to determine appropriate stock values, averages 7.4. The PE ratio is calculated based on last traded prices divided by projected earnings, computed by ICInsider.com for companies with financial year ending around August 2025.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows five stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and two with lower offers.
At the close, First Rock Real Estate USD share slipped 0.01 of one cent in closing at 3.39 US cents with a transfer of 100 units, Margaritaville rose 0.48 of a cent to 8 US cents with investors swapping 920 stocks, Proven Investments rallied 0.49 of one cent to end at 10 US cents after trading 2,242 shares. Sterling Investments fell 0.11 of one cent to close at 1.41 US cents as investors exchanged 597 stock units, Sygnus Credit Investments dipped 0.05 of a cent to finish at 7.2 US cents in trading 500 shares and Transjamaican Highway ended at 2.2 US cents after an exchange of 256,177 units.
In the preference segment, JMMB Group 5.75% ended at US$1.683 with investors dealing in 389 stocks and Sygnus Credit Investments E8.5% increased 80 cents to end at US$11 after an exchange of 100 stock units.
