Trading surged on the US Dollar Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Thursday, with a 1,270 percent surge in the volume of stocks changing hands, with a 2,287 percent jump in value compared with Wednesday, resulting in an exchange of 13 securities, up from seven on Wednesday with prices of four rising, five declining and four ending unchanged.
The market closed following an exchange of 1,055,001 shares for US$121,704, soaring from 76,990 stock units at US$5,098 on Wednesday.
An average of 81,154 shares at US$9,362 were exchanged, after an increasing from 10,999 stock units at US$728 on Wednesday, with a month to date average of 132,214 units at US$51,991 compared with 136,029 shares at US$55,176 on the previous day and June with an average of 625,703 units for US$203,999.
The US Denominated Equities Index rallied 10.21 points to settle at new record high of 295.23. The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows one stock ended with a bid higher than the last selling price and one with a lower offer.

Proven Investments rose 0.6 of a cent to close at 6 US cents with 31,284 units changing hands, Quantas Advantage gained 0.11 of a cent and ended at 10 US cents following trading of 4,000 stocks, Sterling Investments settled at 2 US cents with 75,150 units crossing the market. Sygnus Credit Investments fell 0.43 of a cent and ended at 5.07 US cents as investors exchanged 3,806 shares, Sygnus Real Estate Finance USD share remained at 5 US cents with a transfer of 59 stock units and Transjamaican Highway popped 0.14 of one cent to end at a record closing high of 6.49 US cents with investors dealing in 930,782 shares.
In the preference segment, JMMB Group US8.5% skidded 2 cents in closing at US$1.20 after an exchange of 3,908 units, Productive Business Solutions 9.25% lost US$2.09 to finish at US$10.91 with 4,571 stocks crossing the market, Sygnus Credit Investments 8% dipped 10 cents to close at US$11.10 following an exchange of 11 stock units and Sygnus Credit Investments E8.5% ended at US$10 with investors swapping 12 shares.
